They do their best to follow Hasbro's guidelines that the be aligned with the continuity of the Book and Transformers Games, but not the Movie.

Because of the cost to design a new character, we can expect to see Shockwave again in the future. The number of new characters in the show is low because of the design costs, however they will be introduction new characters to both the Autobot and the Decepticon alliances.

The idea to make Unicron part of the Earth's core was established in the first week of writing back in 2009. There were other ideas to make him emerge from the side of the planet on a continental scale that were not used.

The many types of Energon in show were Hasbro's idea who defined 8-10 types for them to use. All of them have been shown except the Dark Synthetic / Red Energon.

With just 65 shows to work on, Season 3 will be shorter according to Melching. Who says that was the plan all along and they are comfortable with it ending at 65. Although, no plans have been made to end it at this time.

According to Melching the “Darkest Hour” finale episode ends on down turn for the Autobots as a sort of cliffhanger that leave everyone primed for season 3.
