Japanese TFs Updates from February 2009 Figure King

By Primus on Sunday, December 28, 2008

Toy-World.com.hk hooks it up with some new scans from the February issue of Figure King from Japan. The new pages show us a bunch of stuff including new details on the upcoming Masterpiece MP-08 Grimlock, Henkei Cyclonus with Nightstick, Alternity Megatron, the color and gray versions of Disney Label Mickey Mouse Transformer, and new looks at the Henkei! Ratchet and Inferno figures.

The new MP Grimlock shots show size comparisons of the vintage Generation 1 figure next to the Masterpiece class version as well as detailed shots of the eye color changes. Additional images include close-ups of the chest piece, his weapons, visor details, and dino head. Missing are pics of the serving tray and crown.

From the Henkei! line we've got new looks at Cyclonus showing off more chrome and his alt mode in the new colors Takara are doing, which are quite different from the USA version. Also shown are the Inferno and Ratchet figures with new looks at the Ratchet figure.

For those doing the wait and see on the Alternity A-02 Nissan Fairlady Z Megatron, here's another look at the figure head mold. He's definitely shaping up to be a decent rendition of the Decepticon Leader who's just now seeing his first Alternators / Binaltech treatment.

Next, for you Disney fans out there, there's some additional pics of the Disney Label Micky Mouse Optimouse Prime figures that will be offered in a color and a gray edition.

Finally, there is a manga-style illustration that is titled "Visualize" with the Henkei! logo above it and the words "shot 11" showing Cyclonus holding Nightstick and Megatron in the back. We can't read Japanese to tell you what it says, but if someone can, please post the translation in the forums!

I dunno, i just measured up my G1 Prime up to MP Prime and it was about 2 G1 Prime's height. That looks around 2 G1 Grimlocks to MP Grimlock's shoulder. Yes a bit smaller but shoulder wise, not really. And they look only about less then an inch higher. In short, I wouldn't get too worri... read more

No chrome for Henkei Inferno due to the grill being made of clear plastic to accommodate the headlamps.

These pictures show the US version of Inferno and Ratchet. Grimlock looks in all his weird gimmick glory This is what the Japanese versions really look like

Looks like the Henkei Inferno's red is a bit lighter than the Universe Inferno. That and I'm sure the Henkei one has a ton of Chrome. IS this Mickey Mouse TF the only Disney one they are doing? I'm not at all interested in getting him but I am curious as to what some of the other Di... read more

EH...I"m happy with his scale. Perhaps Takara felt that the smaller MP Seekers seem to sell really well and hold up better to TF and play. Perhaps their decision was also based on the general QC fail of MPMegs. I don't know how many folks I've seen or have talked to that are generall... read more

Very near to Starscream MP, I' m afraid: maybe 23 cm (9.06 inches) ? Sorry but I am a little tired of these mini-masterpieces. Grimlock was one of the most appreciate Transformers. And Takara has lost, once again, a great opportunity.

Meh. He looks to be somewhere between MPSS and MPOP, height-wise, which is close enough I guess. It looks awesome and its still going to be in scale with half the other Masterpieces and all the Alts/BT's, so I can deal.

What you're missing is the Autobot symbol, it hides away for Dino mode. Look closely, you can see the emblem in one of the shots, but not in the other.

Sorry but: - Grimlock MP seems to be less than twice Grimlock G1. - Optimus Prime MP is more than twice Optimus Prime G1. - At last Optimus Prime G1 is much bigger than Grimlock G1. So we will have a small Grimlock MP, I' m afraid.
