KRE-O
Transformers KRE-O Website Launches Today July 1, 2011
BaCon - Friday, July 01, 2011

Hasbro have updated their official web site with news that an official Transformers Kre-O website will be launching July 1, 2011. KRE-O brings quality and innovation to the construction aisle. Each KRE-O Transformers set is ‘More Than Meets the Eye,’ with two types of builds: create a robot and then disassemble to build a vehicle, disassemble the vehicle to build a robot. Packed with play, most sets come complete with themed accessories and a poseable KREON mini figure in robot or human form.

Highlights from the KRE-O collection include:

KRE-O TRANSFORMERS OPTIMUS PRIME set

‘Roll out’ and get hands on with the biggest building set in the KRE-O line up: the KRE-O TRANSFORMERS OPTIMUS PRIME set.

Complete with more than 500 pieces, the largest amount featured in any of the 2011 KRE-O sets, builders can assemble the popular OPTIMUS PRIME character in 'vehicle' mode as the notable semi-hauler or in 'robot' mode to create the leader of the AUTOBOTS. When in 'vehicle' mode, the truck's removable cab converts into a mini-command station and the trailer opens to fit the two motorcycles and four unique KREON mini figures included with the set. The trailer can also be disassembled and built into a command center playset for the KREON mini figures. When in 'robot' mode, builders can blast into action with a projectile launching brick! The KRE-O TRANSFORMERS OPTIMUS PRIME set includes orange traffic cones and cool decorative decals. Available at most major retailers nationwide and HasbroToyShop.com.

KRE-O TRANSFORMERS BUMBLEBEE Set

The 2-in-1 KRE-O TRANSFORMERS BUMBLEBEE set allows fans to create and recreate their favorite AUTOBOT character in ‘robot’ mode or in 'vehicle' mode. In 'robot' mode, builders can convert the wings on BUMBLEBEE into a glider for KREON mini figures to balance on. In 'vehicle' mode, open up the driver's door and take up to two KREON mini figures for a spin. Set includes two KREON mini figures and more than 300 pieces. Available at most major retailers nationwide and HasbroToyShop.com.

KRE-O TRANSFORMERS STARSCREAM Set

Builders can construct the KRE-O TRANSFORMERS STARSCREAM set to form the STARSCREAM character in one of two modes: 'vehicle' or 'robot.' In 'vehicle' mode, builders can open this DECEPTICON 'jet's' canopy to fit a KREON mini figure into the cockpit, blast off removable 'rockets' and 'turbo thrusters,' or use the retractable wheels to pretend they're taking off the runway. Comes complete with more than 300 pieces and two KREON mini figures. Available at most major retailers nationwide and HasbroToyShop.com.

More KRE-O News
By way of Autobase Aichi, Facebook user Eddy Melendez has shared a series of photos of Robots In Disguise Custom Kreons! The characters available are Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Sideswipe, and Grimlock, and appear to be available in Regular, Blizzard Strike, and Night Strike color schemes. Each of the four characters comes with their own unique weapons, but the armor pieces seem to be repeated across all 12 variants. Keep reading for the photos!
At the very tail-end of the Kre-O line came the Kreon Battle Changers, which... honestly should've been the idea since the start! Thanks to Autobase Aichi, we know that these built-up, transforming versions of the Kreon minifigures have been spotted at a California Dollar General by Facebook and TFWiki user Eddy Melendez, who posted these photos to a private Facebook group. This seems to be one of the first US sightings of the Collection 3 Megatron and Ironhide. Keep reading to see!
Greg "M Sipher" Sepelak has made an interesting discovery about the reissued blind-bag Kreon Micro-Changers appearing at US dollar stores - they're not reissues at all! They're entirely reversioned pieces using the updated 2015 Kreon body and entirely new tampograph applications. Keep reading for an example photo as well as more info on the differences!
You haven't seen the last of Kre-O in the US yet! Engledogg reports spotting two new $12 sets at his local Dollar General store. One features a repackaging of the Beast Hunters sub-branding Beast Blade Optimus Prime now as Beast Hunter Optimus Prime, and the other is a grouped set of the micro combiner Superion, Bruticus and Menasor, packaged as Combiner Robot Mega Pack. While for the remaining fans of the line this may not be the news they would hope for, it may still be promising that the branding is being kept going in some way in the US. Click through for box photos of the sets!
TFW2005 user Hollywood Hoist has found a nifty novelty: a new plush Optimus Prime that is clearly based on his Kreon minifigure! The plush is marked with a price of $19.99 and was found in a Washington-state Target store. Keep reading to see the photo!
