Kreon Upgrade Kit Adds Limb Extensions for More Articulation Then Meets the Eye
Wu Long Ti - Monday, November 12, 2012

These arrived on my birthday and they fit awesome! I need to make a few minor tweaks to the knee connectors (shave off one of the pegs) and the hands.

The hands had the column for the axle filled in with either support or WST material and I ended up "drilling" them out using the sharpened end of a straight paper clip. it was terrifying. I then cut pieces of paper clip to length and used as axles for the finger joints.

It worked, but I can't expect anybody that goes for this kit to do the same so I'm going to have to work out another solution. I might try a half ball/recess friction connection but I worry that it will keep popping out.

Other than that, this is working exactly how I wanted :D

Joints are articulated enough for a 3 point landing (the Ironman pose)

for those interested, I've setup an account on Sculpteo as well as on shapeways. The prices tend to be a little higher, but from what I gather, you get a faster turn-around time and there are more color options. All of the colors are available in polished as well, where as on shapeways only th... read more

Maybe you have a different expectation of what "explode" means than what Sketchup thinks it means. In SU it's basically just "ungroup", so if you're looking for more than that then maybe it's called something else. If you click on your model and the whole thing is... read more

K, I have the latest free Sketchup and it will not allow me to 'explode' parts.

K, I'll have to look at "exploding" my parts. I worked on an armor set for ROTF/DOTM Optimus Prime last night and couldn't find how to stitch multiple pieces together. In blender I can join vertices but in Sketchup haven't been able to manipulate vertices yet. Sketchup is n... read more

You can chop up or merge objects/groups/components with the free version, you just have to "explode" them first. I think that the only difference between the free and the pro versions have to do with interactions with some architecture program and "corporate licensing".

I'm using Sketchup free, that lip idea would have been good, I already ordered my prototype, so we'll see how it goes

That's what I see most heads for articulated papercraft gundams do and it works well enough. If you give a slight lip to your socket to keep the ball from falling right back out if the figure falls over then that might meet the requirements of having a ball socket. What program are you using?

Yeah, after much trial and error I finally got a working sphere... however since I did not purchase the full version of the program I cannot cut, or merge objects, so my efforts ended up being very pointless.... still gonna get my Tailgate head proto, he'll have an empty peg hole at the base of... read more

More Third Party News
Over on Weibo, FansHobby has posted a few new photos showing MB-06, their MP-scaled Powermaster Optimus Prime figure. On display is the non-super robot mode made just from the truck cab. Only a few angles are shown, but it starts to show what to expect the eventual finished product to look like. It's seen alongside their unofficial Black Convoy/RID Scourge ...as well as an iPhone for an attempt at objective scale. Also shown is the Powermaster component itself, whether you prefer it as Hi-Q or Ginrai. We've mirrored the photos, keep reading and take a look!
From Weibo user bandaimaru, we've got a few shots of a prototype of Toyworld's unofficial Cosmos figure. What we expect to be Masterpiece scale (which in Autobot Mini-Vehicle terms means probably Deluxe-ish) is seen in full color, making the project at its current stage look quite good, for those to whom the design and proportions of G1 Cosmos hold a special place. The figure doesn't seem to have its own codename yet, and likewise it's maybe a bit too early for release info. But you can sure enjoy looking for now! Check it all out in the gallery below.
Maketoys has posted a new update on Facebook for the next in their RE:Master line of Masterpiece scale figures. We've got new color images of Contact Shot, their take on Targetmaster Pointblank. Various angles and poses of the robot are shown, plus an overview of the vehicle mode including opening canopy with driver compartment. And we get to see a closeup of the Targetmaster figure, plus alternate face and helmet options for the figure. We've got all of it mirrored, so click through to have a look!
Just announced are the MM-X Toro & MM-XI Coprimozzo Set featuring Unofficial Hubcap and Cliffjumper figures from from XTransbots. Toro and Coprimozzo are a pair of transforming street cars that are fashioned on a different, more sporty model, than the old VW Bug. Each of these figures stand about 4.50 inches tall in robot mode and feature die-cast parts and real rubber tires. Read on for more details below.
This evening on Facebook, Fanstoys has shared several images of a color testshot of their upcoming figure Phoenix. This figure is based on Skyfire and his almost entirely made up cartoon model which has not gotten much merchandise attention over the years. Phoenix is scaled for a Masterpiece shelf, leaving it towering over ...well, just about everything, going by the included height comparison shot! While release is projected in Spring of 2017, perhaps a color testshot being ready now could indicate an slightly earlier delivery? Time will tell, but for now click through to see the photos!
