Lego Launch Creator Transforming Toy Line - Can Habro's Kre-O Win The Building Block War?

By Jack on Sunday, October 21, 2012

May of us wondered what Lego would do about about Habro's foray into building block territory with their Kre-O line. Lego indeed taken notice and responded with their very own Transforming toy-line effectively stealing back their stolen ideas, Touche Lego! They have listed a Creator figure on their site that shows a new kit for the "31007-1: Power Mech" that appears to be a "3 in 1" triple changer robot, to helicopter, to construction vehicle in modes and green colors you may recognize. It is not clear what Lego's real intentions are here with the Creator line, yet. We'll know if/when they roll out more toys.

Stay tuned to Tformers.com for more details as they are made available. Your best resource for all the Transformers news and community every day.

I've seen a lot of Lego snobs dismissing this report as people over-reacting. They say there is no resemblence to Bulkhead, and that Lego creator sets that form a robot are nothing new, but one thing they don't address is that this isn't just a Lego Creator set that makes a truck or a ro... read more

That's pretty neat, all it needs is a Kreo style head and it would make a great Springer. or hell, make it orange and you got Sandstorm.

True, but that was a fight over a name,, not about the toys.

I've been collecting Lego products since 1994, but I'm sorry lego...I gotta give it to Kre-O between those and the Power Mech here Why? Articulation. I KNOW you could've easily made his knees bend too. Exo Force, anyone?

Lego would own Hasbro, as Lego has been doing this a lot longer than Hasbro. And all of Hasbro's have been crap since the get go, and Kre-O has been on the clearance shelves for months almost a year and still Hasbro thinks they can bring a profit

Following up on last year's Kreon Class of `84 set, Gizmodo Toyland reports that Hasbro will be bringing the class of 1985 to Comic Con International this year! Featuring the vast majority of the toys introduced in 1985 plus Alpha Trion, this 30-Kreon set sports some extremely referential bonus accessories and will run $60, same as the Class of `84. $2 a Kreon is not bad at all! Keep reading for more details!
The webmaster for Seibertron.com reports having found a couple cases of Kre-O Micro Changers at Dollar Tree! The wave in question is Age Of Extinction Wave 2, which features almost entirely G1 and Beast Wars-inspired Kreons. This isn't an entirely unprecedented thing, as Hasbro's Beyblade spinoff toyline Beywarriors has also been appearing in Dollar Tree stores. Keep reading for a photo of what was found and list of what's in the wave!
Optimus Prime doesn't get a lot of downtime. He's usually either fighting the Decepticons, or dead. But Kre-O Optimus Prime has taken working as a hibachi chef in his spare time in this commecial from Stoopid Buddy Studios (Robot Chicken), a simple life he seems to enjoy... when Megatron lets him. Entertainment Earth has listed a new series of Kre-O sets. The "Small Cubes" are shown in this instance as vehicle mode builds based on Ratchet or Prowl, with each kit including two Kreon figures. While the building portion may not necessarily appeal to everyone as you're simply building cars with no robot option, Kreon collectors will surely love to hate this new method for feeding their mini-figure addiction. Thanks to the TFCC on twitter who have posted an image of the Toy Fair 2015 exclusive Transformers Kreon Optimus Prime figure in the package. We're not sure what the repaint refers to, but it looks like a winter colors theme. We will post more details and images on this soon!
