Transformers 4 - Michael Bay and Mark Wahlberg Team up on New Transformers Movie

By Jay on Saturday, November 10, 2012

After an exceptionally successful collaboration on the upcoming “Pain and Gain,” Michael Bay has cast Academy Award®-nominee Mark Wahlberg in the highly anticipated “TRANSFORMERS 4.” The film will hit theaters June 27th, 2014.

“Mark is awesome. We had a blast working on “Pain and Gain” and I’m so fired up to be back working with him. An actor of his caliber is the perfect guy to re-invigorate the franchise and carry on the Transformers’ legacy,” said Bay.

Bay will direct the next installment in the “TRANSFORMERS” series, which begins shooting next spring. From Paramount Pictures, a division of Viacom, Inc., in association with Hasbro, the film will be produced by Don Murphy & Tom DeSanto, Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Ian Bryce, and executive produced by Steven Spielberg, Bay, Brian Goldner and Mark Vahradian.

Bay’s first “TRANSFORMERS” film was a box office sensation in 2007, opening at #1 and earning more than $700 million worldwide. His second installment “TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN” in 2009 grossed more than $830 million worldwide. In 2011, “TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON” was an even bigger hit worldwide, grossing more than a billion dollars to become the 5th highest grossing film of all time. To date, the franchise has earned more than $2.6 billion worldwide.

From acclaimed director Michael Bay comes “Pain and Gain,” a new action comedy starring Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson and Anthony Mackie. Based on the unbelievable true story of three personal trainers in 1990s Miami who, in pursuit of the American Dream, get caught up in a criminal enterprise that goes horribly wrong. Ed Harris, Tony Shalhoub, Rob Corddry, Rebel Wilson, and Bar Paly also star. The film is based on magazine articles by Pete Collins, with a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely and produced by Donald DeLine, Michael Bay and Ian Bryce.

“PAIN AND GAIN” opens in theaters everywhere April 26th, 2013.

Mark Wahlberg is capable of real depth as an actor in the right film. I just hope TF4 IS the right film.

Jason Statham is awesome on film but he's kind of a dick in person. He was at the store the other day with his silverback body guard and let me paint this picture: Employee: "Anything I can help you find today sir?" Statham: "......." *looks at him like he's retarded fo... read more

I get the impression Bay knows he's lost his audience. He would not be talking up a fresh new angle if he didn't. For me, Wahlberg is an uninspired choice that suggests more candy-ass antics to come. I wanna see a Jason Statham or someone real edgy and serious like that on board.

Finally! An actor. No offense to Shia but a 4th movie with him would've just been too much. Plus it helps I'm a sucker for Mark Wahlberg.

They can have whatever logo they want as long as they don't start calling it "Trans4mers". And I like Mark Wahlberg. The Big Hit has always been a favorite movie of mine....

Lmao ... I hear ya man! I'd be more than ok seeing her in there! As for the news, Marky Mark is ok, I've seen some garbage he's done, but I've also seen some really good stuff he's done. I'm more annoyed by the logo than anything else ... That thing stinks!

I'm a little more excited about this than I should be. I should know better. I've seen Wahlberg in Planet of The Apes, so I know he can churn out a s****y movie just as easily as Magic Mike can. And yet, something tells me this might just be good, to refresh the series and add a higher calib... read more

Perhaps emboldened by the amazing success of Marvel's take on a shared continuity for its increasingly numerous movies and now TV projects, Hasbro has made known their plans to try this approach with the Transformers movie series. But what can we expect from this direction, and how might it affect Transformers 5? Keep reading for some thoughts.
In what may be remembered as the least surprising news of 2015, it sounds like Michael Bay will be returning again for the next installment in the Transformers film series. At CinemaCon, Vice Chairman of Paramount Rob Moore was said to have "promised" theatre owners attending the event that Bay was already in the process of developing the next Transformers movie. It was previously reported that Bay had opted to take on a different project which would keep him from directing a fifth Transformers movie. Keep reading for more!
Entertainment Weekly confirms that Hasbro has hired writer Akiva Goldsman to head up the writing team that will work on expanding the Transformers movie world into a broader cinematic franchise. CEO Brian Goldner revealed this in Hasbro's quarterly earnings conference call yesterday, and added that Transformers 5 is expected in 2017. A director is not mentioned, and while Michael Bay was named in connection with the project in rumors it's entirely logical that the financially successful director would be consulted on what "his" franchise would do next. Genetic of TFND has come through again with a huge gallery of photos of Optimus Prime Ultimate Edition, the most heavily equipped and painted version of Transformers 1-3 Optimus Prime you will ever see. It has a ridiculous amount of equipment, all storable in its Murder Truck mode. And even articulated fingers - keep reading to see it all!
The TransformersAsia Facebook page has posted a wealth of images of the new Ultimate Optimus Prime, showing off what almost has to be the definitive version of Optimus as he appeared in Transformers (2007), Revenge Of The Fallen, and Dark Of the Moon. Featuring comparisons to the previous APS-01 release, Ultimate Prime features lots more paint and a tremendous loadout of weapons. The figure's due for release on April 24th but in the meantime you can keep reading to see the mirrored gallery of 43 images!
