New Transformers Game Coming From Electronic Arts?

By bwbm on Sunday, September 30, 2007 @ 09:02:27 PM

Electronic Arts and Hasbro, Inc. have entered into a new agreement to develop video games based on the toy company's properties, reports Game News International.

The announcement of the deal took place at this weekend's G.I. Joe Convention in Atlanta, Georgia.

Although the contents of the deal were not explicitly stated, it was hinted that a game based on the Transformers property is included in this deal.

This is needed. both the PS2 Armada game and the recent game based on the movie were good in parts, but neither was a real AAA game or anything. I would LOVE for a new, really cool Transformers game! And honestly, I'm betting we're going to see a TF:Animated game.

I think a square style Final Fantasy game using the "Transformers: Universe" idea would be great. Loads of different charcters and they could transform on the main map screen while running (al la Xenogears) and also transform in the fighting screens like xenogears too.

They could visit all kinds of locations, from cybertron, to earth, nebulous, battle beasts home planet, all the planets in TF:Cybertron, Unicron, quintessa, JUNK, etc.

Parties with characters from every generation and/or completely new ones.

Im sure we would all love something like that.

The PS2 game was excellent and we should use that idea as a basis for this new game.

Elements of the movie game such as flying missions should als be incorporated but then without the annoying time limits and such.

A God Of War style game would work best. A character that can be leveled up and given new attacks as they grow. And each character can take a different route to a destination. Jetfire can fly for instance but that does draw attention of the Decepticons so attacks will be heavy (as they have lots of flyers) whereas Bumblebee or Hot Rod can drive which is slower but they do meet less resistance.

The game should be easy to get into (again like God Of War) because smaller kids should be able to play it too. Higher difficulty settings can make the game a challenge for adults.

For instance- the easy level has opponents that go down after just one hit. The hard level has opponents that can take up to 4 hits to go down and one must first break their defenses or hit them with just the right weapon to get them to go down.

Oh the possibilities!
