HD-DVD is no more as Toshiba Corp. announced in Tokyo, Japan on Tuesday that they will no longer develop, make or market HD DVD players and recorders, reports our sister site Entertainment News International. We told you this weekend about this widely reported plan by the company.

It is still uncertain what will happen with companies including Paramount Pictures that signed on to release their next-gen home entertainment exclusively on the HD-DVD format, but it will most likely result in the studios jumping ship to the Blu-ray format.
