After giving us the
lowdown on the script status for "Transformers 2" post-strike, one-third of the scriptwriting trio Roberto Orci is giving some more little tidbits regarding what we can expect to see in "Transformers 2." He also gives a little information regarding "Transformers" director Michael Bay's unorthodox actions during the strike.
Posting in the "
Hey Roberto" thread over at "Transformers" producer Don Murphy's official forums, Mr. Orci has said to expect Starscream to dish out more lines in the sequel.
On a similar note, the Decepticons will be receiving their own screen time this go-around as well as a new mix of characters thrown into the mix. While the question was asked whether or not it is a new mix of Generation 1 characters, Mr. Orci dodged that question a little bit.
Because it was not shown how the Decepticons arrived on Earth, it was also asked whether or not they would write that into "Transformers 2." "No comment on Decepticon arrivals!" exclaimed Mr. Orci.
He also says that while Optimus Prime will always be in the spotlight for the movies, all characters will be given a chance to shine in the "Transformers 2." While it is unknown who it will be, it is too early to tell.
There has been no decision as to whether or not Bumblebee will be a full-time talker, or still semi-mute.
The tone of the film will be similar to the first film but a bit more "sciene-fictiony," as described by a board member as a bit smarter. While there will still be humor, "many of the Transformers themselves will be more in line with fan expectation," writes Mr. Orci. "More serious to some degree," but cautions, "[a]gain, we're early in the process."

Mr. Orci also admits that the tone of the film was the hardest to crack in "Transformers," and that some of the characters may have acted a little over-the-top. However, Mr. Orci says that they will hopefully be better at modulating the characters and tone this go-around.
With one more scriptwriter attached to the project, the three have agreed on a process to make the movie: They "split up scenes and then pass them around to each other to make our own tweaks without anyone's feelings getting hurt -- one big jam session after which we'll hopefully have an album called TF2."
As for Mr. Bay's actions? Some have called it
unorthodox for him to finish the story outline by himself without the writers, but Mr. Orci is beside Mr. Bay on this. "Bay's statements should be taken merely as confirmation of his enthusiasm and desire to make his date," he writes. "He does not want anyone to lose confidence in the project."
