Playskool Glow-Bots Sighted in USA

By npk on Thursday, April 08, 2004

The new Go-Bots Glow-Bots have been found at a Toys R Us in the Milwaukee, WI area.

The story blurb on the back explains how the Go-Bots have all received new powers from a new power source: Gobrillium.

Some are Glow-Bots ("awesome" light up feature), including: Taxi-Bot - a remold of the police/fire sportscar, Buzzer-Bot - a remold of the Buzzer-Bot bee, Truck-Bot - a remold of Flash-Bot (seems like those names should be reversed), and Racer-Bot BETA - a new mold.

Some have Invisibility Force (translucent plastic), including: Reptron - a translucent Reptron, Speed-Bot - a translucent video pack-in Speed-Bot, Racer-Bot ALPHA - a new mold likely based on the sports car mold, and Strong-Bot - a new mold possibly based on the Flash-Bot mold.

Others have "launching fists with amazing strength", and the remolding done to Aero-Bot and Silver-Bot would seem to suggest they received that power.

Finally, there's Fast-Bot - another Mirage-Bot recolor, Mototron Racer - a Speed-Bot Racer recolor, and a new Speed-Bot Racer which is an all new mold.

I have pretty much quit collecting everything BUT Gobots. I grow bored of the main line of transformers a week or so after purchase, many of the new ones just look so ugly I don't want to go near them, and the Universe toys hold no interest for me.

BUT - the Gobots are still wonderful. I still pick them up and fiddle with them a year or two after purchase. They are just so full of life (if a plastic toy can be said to have life), their designs are just so joyful and the transformations so satisfying...

I am done with Transformers - but Gobots have kept my transforming robot love alive.

They are a lot of fun. I still like the new TFs. But somehow I find myself drawn to these toys too. I just wish they would chill on the repaints. Some of the molds have been redone 4-5 times now.
