Possible New Transformers Generations Design for G1 Optimus Prime with Roller Targetmaster?
Jack - Sunday, January 13, 2013

Thanks to griffin over at Ozformers, who has posted an image from Toy Hobby Retailer magazine of what may be a new Transformers Thanks ot Generations G1 Optimus Prime figure design. The image that appears in a magazine article celebrating Hasbro's 90th year as a toy maker. Is an illustration that depicts an Optimus Prime with man of the hallmarks of the Generation 1 version. What is even cooler is the Roller vehicle presented as a Targetmaster weapon! Take this at face value, as we have no news of a new figure at this time.
As Austin Powers once said, "How'd I miss those baby"... the latest issue of Toy Hobby Retailer magazine has been looking at me for about a month (sitting on my desk next to the computer), and I only just noticed that on the cover "Hasbro montage" (promoting it's major brands in its 90th anniversary this year), there was something to do with Transformers buried in the middle.

Taking a closer look, I realised that I didn't recognise the toy artwork at all... but knew that it was Gen1 Optimus (it is definitely NOT TFPrime or Movie Optimus), with a gun that appears to have truck parts on it (blue cab with windshield and lights, three sets of "wheels" on the side).
So, could 2013 see a Generations line with a gimmick of convertible weapons like the Powercore Combiners or Arms Micron... with the weapons turning into drone vehicles instead of Minicons/Microns?

I guess we'll find out in about a month's time at the American Toyfair. But for now, enjoy this teaser...

I'm all for this with the idea/hope of more Targetmasters to come. As is, more Generations stuff is good. Guess Toyfare will tell.

I could be tempted, if only for the inevitable third party upgrades, or the hopeful Thunderclash or Pyro repaint.

Looks more like a blue G1 Huffer with the truck windows at the back.

The split chest reminds me of the Movie-verse style. I guess its ok. Not sure about that Roller idea... would be neat if they could figure out how to get that gun platform from the Combat Deck to be a targetmaster weapon. But if Roller is actually what that is, hopefully that means a trailer will al... read more

Today RAC takes a look at the first of the three primary forms that toy articulation can take: the hinge. Probably the most-used joint on Transformers figures due to their utility in transformation mechanisms, hinges still do a lot of heavy lifting for the humanoid form as well - especially if you do it properly and lift from the knees. Hey, Luna 2 has returned to Functionist Cybertron! What great timing that can't possibly portend disaster! Dissolution, Part 4: Bad Moon Rising is written by James Roberts with art by Jack Lawrence and colors by Joana Lafuente. Click here to go to the review
The Titan-ship Carcer is not what it appears to be. With Windblade interfaced directly with its brain, its true nature is revealed. But neither she nor the infiltration team accompanying her could know just how bad that truth is, or why the other Titans went to such lengths to bury it forever. "Rubicon" written by Mairghread Scott, drawn by Sara Pitre-Durocher, colors by Joana Lafuente. Read the full review!
This week, RAC's taking a look at the many facets and applications of toy articulation. What is it used for? How does it work? What can go wrong? But first, a little bit of action figure history as an introduction. The jointing in action figures goes back hundreds of years but has always had the same goal: to simulate figures in motion. Though we had heard of Canadian sightings starting a little over a month ago, we've finally got word of Titans Return Voyager wave 4 making its way to stores in the US. Broadside is the only new figure in the case, and one was found in a San Antonio Walmart by *Deathblade. A photo of a receipt was offered as evidence, and while it doesn't descriptively name Broadside, the printed UPC number is a match, verifying the find. Distribution could take time though, as there are still lots of Astrotrains and Optimus Primes out there taking up the space. Best of luck to all toy hunters!
