Possible New Transformers Generations Design for G1 Optimus Prime with Roller Targetmaster?

By Jack on Sunday, January 13, 2013

Thanks to griffin over at Ozformers, who has posted an image from Toy Hobby Retailer magazine of what may be a new Transformers Thanks ot Generations G1 Optimus Prime figure design. The image that appears in a magazine article celebrating Hasbro's 90th year as a toy maker. Is an illustration that depicts an Optimus Prime with man of the hallmarks of the Generation 1 version. What is even cooler is the Roller vehicle presented as a Targetmaster weapon! Take this at face value, as we have no news of a new figure at this time.
As Austin Powers once said, "How'd I miss those baby"... the latest issue of Toy Hobby Retailer magazine has been looking at me for about a month (sitting on my desk next to the computer), and I only just noticed that on the cover "Hasbro montage" (promoting it's major brands in its 90th anniversary this year), there was something to do with Transformers buried in the middle.

Taking a closer look, I realised that I didn't recognise the toy artwork at all... but knew that it was Gen1 Optimus (it is definitely NOT TFPrime or Movie Optimus), with a gun that appears to have truck parts on it (blue cab with windshield and lights, three sets of "wheels" on the side).
So, could 2013 see a Generations line with a gimmick of convertible weapons like the Powercore Combiners or Arms Micron... with the weapons turning into drone vehicles instead of Minicons/Microns?

I guess we'll find out in about a month's time at the American Toyfair. But for now, enjoy this teaser...

I'm all for this with the idea/hope of more Targetmasters to come. As is, more Generations stuff is good. Guess Toyfare will tell.

This has my attention. Can t wait to see more!

I could be tempted, if only for the inevitable third party upgrades, or the hopeful Thunderclash or Pyro repaint.

Looks more like a blue G1 Huffer with the truck windows at the back.

The split chest reminds me of the Movie-verse style. I guess its ok. Not sure about that Roller idea... would be neat if they could figure out how to get that gun platform from the Combat Deck to be a targetmaster weapon. But if Roller is actually what that is, hopefully that means a trailer will al... read more

TakaraTomy designer Hisashi Yuki has posted a silhouette to Twitter showing off what appears to be a Unite Warriors version of Galvatronus! The Combiner Wars Voyager-class Cyclonus core is accompanied by the Deluxe Rook and Offroad molds for legs - sensible choices since neither have been released in Japan - and a pair of Aerialbot molds. The final deco for Galvatronus and the identities of his minions are unknown, but it's going to be fascinating to see. Read on to see the image!
New York Comic Con is pretty much over as far as Transformers news goes, but we're not quite done covering what did happen! Diecast from Radio Free Cybertron has sent us a big batch of additional photos taken on Wednesday night during Hasbro's 'Twas The Night Before' media event, giving us some great new looks at many of the toys on display there. We have more than 60 new photos for you to check out covering mostly Titans Return, but also RID and Combiner Wars, so click through and check it out!
While most of us were looking at photos from New York, Hisashi Yuki was continuing with (a small part of) his work, tweeting photos of upcoming toy releases. Latest on the plate is a group shot of the Unite Warriors Protectobots, showing the whole team together in robot modes. Besides giving a refresher on what the TakaraTomy deco looks like, it's also another chance to see the team set up with the exclusive Groove. Click through to have a look!
