Review - Transformers Generations Hoist

By ExVee on Wednesday, September 11, 2013

Hoist is the foregone conclusion. From the moment you find out there will be a Generations Trailbreaker (or cutter, whichever) you know that it's only a matter of time before it gets Hoisted. But I can hardly complain about that. While Trailmix might finish out the 1984 Diaclone car updates, Hoist is another part of piecing together the 1985 lineup, making him no less important. Taiyu Lin has posted an extensive gallery of the UW-03 Defensor set on Picasa, giving us a great look at the whole Protectobot team, including of course the long-awaited Deluxe Groove. Better looks at the packaging, including the team art featuring a baseball game, and the collector coin for this set are also included. While comprehensive side by sides weren't done, there is a photo of Unite Warriors and Hasbro Defensor together, as well as Deluxe vs Legends Grooves for comparison. Keep reading to check out the mirrored photos.
Perhaps attempting to distract from the unplanned reveal of Galvatronus, Hisashi Yuki went back to the regular photo tweeting schedule, sending out a shot of the packaging for UW-03 Defensor and UW-04 Devastator together. Unsurprisingly, Devastator's box occupies a somewhat greater volume. As seen recently, most of the box graphics are the same as the US release, which may disappoint some who would otherwise have enjoyed new art in the generally excellent style of the other Unite Warriors releases. Barely 24 hours since Hisashi Yuki tweeted a slightly less obscured silhouette teaser of the presumed UW-06 combiner, and article about TakaraTomy Mall on Yahoo Japan has provided our first frustratingly tiny look at the set. Seen in a group with all the other Unite Warriors sets, we can now start piecing together what the components are - and the clues at hand point to a very odd grouping. For his part, Hisashi Yuki in a subsequent tweet seemed dismayed at the premature release of a picture of the combiner. For more details and very sadly low-res images, keep reading!
Between the machinations of Blackrock and the opportunism of the Decepticons, the Earth-bound Autobots are out of commission. Who is left to save the day, rescue the Autobots, and foil these evil schemes? Only the most amazing team up Transformers has ever seen.
