Game Informer reports a rumor in their latest issue that Activision is currently developing a new video game based on the Transformers franchise that will tie-in with a
Transformers film's continuity.
"Activision's movie-based games are known for strictly adhering to the template of the films, often to those titles' detriment," reports Loose Talk, the rumors section in the magazine's epic issue number 200. "However, Loose Talk is hearing rumors that the publisher/developer is hard at work on another Transformers game, and we're told that this one isn't tied to the Michael Bay films."
This does not come as a surprise, as Activision's CEO Bobby Kotick has previously stated that he would like to see the Transformers video games become an "
annual franchise."
And since
Transformers 3 isn't slated for theaters until July 1, 2011, there needs to be a game to fill in the 2010 gap to fit the annual franchise bill, right?
The full report is below and may be found on page 29 of the latest Game Informer magazine, on magazine stands now.
Transformers Transformation
Activision's movie-based games are known for strictly adhering to the template of the films, often to those titles' detriment. However, Loose Talk is hearing rumors that the publisher/developer is hard at work on another Transformers game, and we're told that this one isn't tied to the Michael Bay films. Could this have been the Transformers game that fans have deserved all along? Movie-based games games typically don't get the development time they need due to the need to meet the film's release date, and film tie-ins can hamper the storylines the game can explore on as well. This Transformers game sounds like it will get the freedom it needs.
