SDCC 2012 - Transformers Prime Display at Wednesday Night Preview Shows Off Thundertron

By Jack Q on Wednesday, July 11, 2012

The second part of our walkaround of the Hasbro display area includes the Transformers Prime toyline. Not really any surprises here unless you count Thundertron, which makes its debut in October 2012 for $19.99. Unfortunately Ultra Magnus and Skyquake have not been sited, but be sure to check out the entire display in our gallery.

Yeah, I wouldn't kick a Camaro out of the garage myself but I prefer a Mustang by a long stretch. And absolutely. In the last month before Christmas Bumblebee was a no show in my area, and in the last week there were no TFs anywhere. I went to Target and they had 1 FAB Frenzy left. I passed on ... read more

Nah, Bumblebee was a fad and nothing more,as for the new camero it does it on its own. Though I never wanted one myself, I'm more of a Mustang owner myself

Rob is onto something. I think kids may be over it now but at one point, BB was the IT character like Optimus Prime is to most of us. And all of the new Camaro's sold since then probably had a little help from the movies. Hell, i want one and i don't like Bumblebee.

And I still remember Christmas 2007 when there was nary a dan Bumblebee to be found. I eventually had to get a Premium series BB. Seriously, the Target 2 packs disappeared fast, FABs were empty, no Bumblebee of any kind anywhere. I never thought at that time I'd come to prefer it that way....

Who said anything about cry, I said clamor. As in getting all excited and yelling his name upon site. BB and John Cena who they always pronounce 'DON DENA' But like I said, over saturated.
8:02 pm

How can they cry about not getting a BB? Every TRU I go to has at least 30 of them in at least 4 different series types. That's like going to the supermarket and crying there's no ice cream
7:55 pm

I've never heard a kid cry because they didn't have a Bumblebee, Skywarp on the other hand....
7:23 pm

See it's the exact opposite here. I can hear kids clamoring for BB before I even get to the aisle. They over saturated that.
7:20 pm

Yes you can and so can I, I still remember when the 2007 toys came out, a dad showed a Bumblebee to his son, and his son said no he wanted Barricade instead. So that is how I know all this about BB is BS. Hopefully the retailers will just too the Bumblebee's on the death shelves of clearance t... read more

Dude, folks are still complaining about all the Transquitos at TRU. I can dream, can't I?

Botcon.com has posted the announcement today that Scott McNeil will be attending as a guest at Botcon 2016 in Louisville. While a complete listing of Scott's voice roles would occupy more space than the observable universe, naturally he's most relevant for his work on Beast Wars with four major characters to his name - and one minor role that happens to be fairly important to this year's exclusive box set: Tripredacus Council member Cicadacon. This will be Scott's seventh Botcon appearance.
Fun Publications has released the brochure for Botcon 2016, taking place in early April in Lexington, Kentucky. As such we now have the pricing info for the various convention packages, featuring a primus Package set at $399 - a reduction from the cost of 2015's box set. As well we now know what form the tour events will take, as well as some updated policy related in the brochure that everyone should make sure to be aware of. Keep reading for all the details!
The trademark-watchers over at Transformers@The Moon have posted a curious piece of news this morning: Hasbro has filed a trademark with the US Patent Office for the name "Cybertron Con," which is the name of the official Transformers convention in Asia. It's far too early to tell whether this means a name change for BotCon, a new convention, or simply a "defensive" trademark so no fan group can take it in the US, but at any rate, it's an interesting development! Keep reading for a link to the original story.
Via their social media channels, Fun Publications has revealed which of the three Combiner Wars Voyager body-types will be used for the fifth member of next year's boxset. General Sea Clamp will find himself embodied in Silverbolt - or at least, one of two variations. With no specific alt mode attributes visible in this teaser art, it's unclear if it will be Silverbolt specifically, or the retool as Scattershot. That will have to wait for the actual mockup reveal, due tomorrow. Meanwhile, click through for the art, taking us back to a better time in Transformers.
Botcon.com has been updated with the fourth reveal of the 2016 boxset's exclusives. As indicated in yesterday's art reveal, the newest figure is Cicadacon, a straight red and silver recolor of Aerialbot Skydive. With five new heads having been noted for this set of toys, that confirms the combined form will have a unique headsculpt. And this leaves us with just the torso remaining to be revealed as most likely General Sea Clamp, and so the wait begins to see which Voyager mold they've colored red and silver! Keep reading for the Cicadacon mockup image.
