SDCC 2013 - Dead Optimus Prime, Megatron, Sunstrom, Bait Loyal Subjects Convention Exclusives

By BaCon on Friday, July 12, 2013

If you were a fan of the Transformers Movie like we were then you might still be traumatized by the sad truth that befell us all and more importantly our great leader, Optimus Prime. Prime dies and as he dies he turns gray. The color of the powerful warrior is drained from his body, just like the spark which gives him life dims from his chest. So, in the best spirit of one of the more radical variations in the arch of Optimus Prime, we decided to go deep - we present to you in a very large format (8" tall and hugely wide), DEAD PRIME.

This piece is intense - beautiful and ornate deco, illsutrating the strains and punishment from the battle which claimed OP, as well as a detailed look into Optimus Prime's chest. Ultimately the life giving spark which boldly motivated this magnanimous hero. Primes ginormous blaster comes with this beautiful piece. Like the mini figures he has multiple points of articulation and he comes packaged in a special SDCC exclusive box. Available for $115.00/ea, Edition size 300. One of the more rare Optimus Prime pieces in this known Universe. Available Friday, July 19th from 1-2p coinciding with a signing by designer Les Schettkoe. A must have for any Transformers fan. Produced and Manufactured by yours truly (The Loyal Subjects) under License from the equally magnanimous Hasbro, Inc. Available at The Loyal Subjects Booth #5645. For those who can't make the Con, a limited number of pieces will be available online after 2p the same day. www.theloyalsubjects.com

Midnight on Cybertron. Sparkling with light, guiding factions to and from strife. As the Autobots and Decepticons struggle for power and balance, Megatron, the powerful leader of the Decepticons sits proud high up-top his fortified perch, sinking into his thrown, glowing, candescent with the power which surges through his alien metallic frame. Glowing, reflecting the colors of night on this alien planet. Blue. Hungry for power, starving to conquer, to destroy everything in his path. We give you a rare look into the natural candescence of this powerful leader as seen on his native planet.

Megatron - Midnight Cybertron Edition stands 3" tall with multiple points of articulation. He is armed with his blaster and scope. Blister pack and Exclusive to SDCC. Edition of 500. $15.00/each and available Thursday July 18th at 11-12p, coinciding with a signing by designer Les Schettkoe. A must have for any Transformers fan. Some quantities will be available online after 12p the same day. www.theloyalsubjects.com

Sunstorm - A Seeker in the Decepticon fleet. SUNSTORM, an F-15 Cybertronian Jet has a built in fusion reactor which powers at an extreme potency, giving SUNSTORM extreme speed, and energy in the form of heat and electromagnetic pulses and waves. A definitive threat to all he encounters, even his Seeker comrades. SUNSTORM believes he is powered by divinity, a super natural being in origin. However, he is a product of SHOCKWAVE's cloning experiments with STARSCREAM. SUNSTORM is coated with Electrum, which contains the extreme energy his fusion reactor generates.

One day, should I move on from Transformers collecting, writing, hobbying and all related activities, I will have memories. Memories of my favourite figures, the best conventions and stories, and the people I met during my tenure in the fandom. People and things will stand out because they were unique, unforgettable and awesome. Jon “Napalm” Strong will be one of those people. Unconstrained by focus, bandwagons or what people think of him, Jon is an inspirational person and collector. So modest and humble was his response to being interviewed, I almost wish you could see the true Napalm!
Kids Logic has posted images to their Facebook page featuring the next series of Kids Nation small-scale super deformed-style figures. Included in this assortment are Megatron, Smokescreen, Jazz, Wheeljack, and Ironhide- with a special gold-colored Megatron listed as "Extra." Release date is still vague - 2nd Quarter 2015 - but for now keep reading to see all the photos!
Transformers artist Alex Milne has been gracious enough to share some preview images from the pending More Than Meets The Eye #38 comic that is coming out next week. Get a look at first three pages of the line-art now for a look at whats to come. Check back for a color preview and full review of this comic book, right here next Tuesday. Read on to see the images and more details now.
Multiple news sources are confirming that Leonard Nimoy, best known as Star Trek's Mr. Spock but also a repeated presence in Transformers media, has died of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease at the age of 83. An actor, director, photographer, and much more, Mr. Nimoy was in all things he chose to do an artist, first and foremost, who gave his work the attention and forethought it deserved. He will be missed, and the thoughts of the TFormers staff go out to Mr. Nimoy's family.
...namely: What? The Facebook group Cybertron Phillipines has posted an image of the Triple Changers set showing the G1 Blitzwing and Astrotrain molds with new decos. Blitzwing's purple now skews far more magenta, and Astrotrain has grown some large patches of bright red. You'd be tempted to write these off as early test shots in random plastic colors... except there they are on the boxart in the same color schemes. It'll definitely be interesting to see more pictures of these two, but for now keep reading to see what we've got!
