Shout Factory To Also Release Japanese Transformers Series?

By ExVee on Wednesday, February 09, 2011

Shout! Factory's Brian Ward may have possibly tipped his hand to the company's intentions to release Japanese Transformers series on DVD. On his Twitter page, Mr. Ward wrote that Beast Wars is "just one of MANY titles I'm excited to be working on. Anyone speak Japanese?"

This is one day after Mr. Ward dropped the bomb, to joyous fans around the country, that they would be re-releasing the Beast Wars series on DVD.

Big news re: BEAST WARS yesterday. But that's just one of MANY titles I'm excited to be working on. Anyone speak Japanese? #NotReallyAskingless than a minute ago via web

I hope so because I really hate bootlegs. You never know what you're really getting until you get home so it's hit or miss.

I'd bet it was either contracts went finished yet, so they couldn't say. OR the customer service person who answers those emails didn't have the info yet.

I actually sent them an email about a week ago inquiring about their intentions on releasing Headmasters, Masterforce, and Victory as well as the 1986 movie after reflecting on the bootlegs I saw at Wizard World Chicago. I got a big negatory on all counts. Could've been a smokescreen though....

I already have all the Headmasters episodes (English dubs) on DVD thanks to internet downloads. If they release the Headmasters series in digitally mastered (with a new/better dub) I might grab these, if not, then I'll stick with my DVD rips.

Someone should email Shout later to find out, I will try later

I'd get excited, but I highly doubt these will get dubbed anyway... But hey if I'm wrong and Shout goes through the effort of getting them dubbed too, then hell yes I'm buying this!

Yeah, we reported on it earlier this week (merged it into the previous thread). Brian Ward also posted a tweet giving something vague like this. Very interesting, though, thanks for the information!

A post on Twitter by Brian Ward seems to indicate they're going to release the Japanese Transformer series. "Looking for bonus feature material re: TRANSFORMERS TAKARA COLLECTION. Commercials, etc. Got anything? #DoesntMeanImWorkingOnIt #YesItDoes" Source: (link) No telling if i... read more

But the dub is the only way to enjoy 'I give my life for earth'!

I'd definately get those, especially if they are subtitled. Anything to replace my Headmasters and Victory dubbed DVDs... BLAH!

More Generation 1 Japan News
QTransformers is coming back for another round of entertaining confusion! (For those of us who don't speak Japanese anyway!) Starting on July 6th, the second season of web animation shorts will feature Decepticons Starscream, Shockwave, and Soundwave! Of the three, we're able to identify Shockwave's voice actor as one Kaito Ishikawa - but that's the extent of our ability to decipher kanji. Keep reading for a look at the tiny Decepticons!
Autobase Aichi has dug up a new image showing that a Kabaya version of the Seacons will be released somewhere in the near future. These technically will represent the iteration of the Seacons from Masterforce, but they happen to be pretty much identical to the US release Seacons. The only picture of the kits are combined as King Poseidon. And since Masterforce's Seacons were legions of drones apart from Turtler, getting duplicates of most of these wouldn't be a bad thing! Click through to check out the solicitation image.
It must be a day ending in Y, because there's an Optimus Prime figure being recolored as Nemesis Prime in Japan. Today's entry is Bearbrick Nemesis Prime, who takes the G1-style figure that changes from Optimus Prime-themed teddy bear to plain old Optimus Prime and gives it the time-honored Scourge/Nemesis paint job. The figure is expected June 19th for the hefty retail price of 5184 Yen. Keep reading to see!
Hayato Sakamoto contributed his talents to issue #39 of More Than Meets The Eye, in the process rolling numerous Japanese-fiction-originated character in to the issue's crowds. Among them was a slightly different looking version of Liokaiser. Today, Sakamoto has posted the original concept art that was used as the model for the comic appearance, which differs from the final appearance of the toy and Victory series model. Click through to give it a look!
It looks like QTransformers must've done pretty well, because thanks to Autobase Aichi we know the Decks Tokyo Beach store is holding a QTF event where you can have a card stamped with the faces of Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Lockdown, and G1 Prime/Convoy to receive a special gift. Also on display are QTransformers phone straps, buttons featuring lines from the animation, and even a "life-size" model of QTransformers Bumblebee! Keep reading to see the event!
