TakaraTomy's Hisashi Yuki continues looking for ways to take up the time previously devoted to Masterpiece Star Saber. Today he's giving us a good look at the Legends Series version of Leader Class Megatron. Verifying what we saw from the low-res image recently, this version of the toy skews much more to the cartoon interpretation of Megatron, streamlining the deco including removing a lot of the accenting red and replacing it with more grey and silver. With his baby all grown up and out in the world now, Hisashi Yuki has had to shift his attention away from Masterpiece Star Saber. So today he's tweeted about the upcoming Unite Warriors Menasor. The boxset release of Combiner Wars Menasor will feature a recolored Dead End as Wildrider, likely among other deco changes. In the tweet Yuki-san mentions a wave of new merchandise this weekend, but advises everyone to check the hobby magazines for more about Menasor's arrival farther down the road.
From @T_soiya on Twitter we've gotten our first look at the finalized deco for TakaraTomy's take on Leader Class G1 Megatron. In a not very surprising move, they're eliminated half of the red plastic and most or all of the red paint, giving a perhaps more cartoon accurate but far less interesting looking figure, along with dropping some other minor deco elements. We can judge better when a better image comes in, but for now it looks like Hasbro's the clear winner. You can check out our review of the Hasbro version here then check out the solicitation image to compare!
It's hobby magazine time once again in Japan, and one of the first scans from Figure King has come in via TAG Hobby giving us our first glimpse at TakaraTomy's take on Combiner Wars Menasor. Answering the question many have held, Offroad looks to be replaced by a recolored Dead End standing in as Wildrider. The image available right now doesn't show Menasor very clearly, but we can expect to see better scans over the next few days. Click through to see the full image!
