Takara Designer Hints at Next Transformers Masterpiece Action Figure

By deceptikhan on Tuesday, November 24, 2009

Well for those that said Buster Prime looks of masterpice quality, its probably b/c he was MADE by the guy in charge of all MP's except MP-03. Here is a translation of the Buster Prime interview with designer Hirinori Kobayashi. He mentions why they made EZ collections Devastator.

He also mentions a little hint about the NEXT Masterpiece
Hirinori Kobayashi came up with the idea of Buster Optimus Prime and designed the muffler > gun transformation. It was also difficult to recreate the exact hue of purplish blue with the plastic, which he considers as more film accurate.

He belongs to domestic product team, and for ROTF he has been mainly responsible for some modifications of the products aimed at Japanese release.

He explains the reason of developing EZ Devastator as, "While RD-16 Devastator is impressively huge, its strength is in gimmicks. I thought Japanese TF fans might not be satisfied with it, since even 25 years old (G1) item achieved Robot > Vehicle > Combine modes."

He was in charge of all Masterpiece products, except for MP-3. He again hints of the new MP next year 2010, which has a significance to Transformers. ("2010" is s Japanese title for G1 season 3.)

One of his favourite (of the products he developed) is Rescue Hero Gobots Chopper!

More Generation 1 Japan News
Autobase Aichi has posted Amazon Japan listings for the first eight QTransformers along with a price - 1079 Yen each, or roughly $10. Which seems a bit high for squatty little Choro-Q inspired figures. But more importantly, we've got sizeable photos for six of the eight figures, including all four G1-inspired figures. Keep reading for details on all eight, plus the photos!
Kotobukiya has posted a pretty big gallery of images of the upcoming D-Style Megatron kit! It's nicely poseable, especially for a kit of this squatty body type, and comes with a few accessories. Beyond a separate gun-mode Megatron and the ubiquitous energy mace, Megatron comes with three separate faces. Out of the three - Frowny Face, Shouty Face, and Sneery Face - I think Shouty Face is my favorite. Keep reading to see the mirrored gallery!
The Alfes2010 Twitter has posted a bunch of new photos of Mega Drive Megatron, in-hand and looking good! The Decepticon leader, cunningly disguised as the Japanese equivalent of the Sega Genesis, stands slightly taller than a Voyager-class figure and comes with a gamepad and a non-operational copy of Sonic The Hedgehog! Keep reading to see the photos!
The saga of the transformable SD Transformers toyline continues with animation! First we saw the Choro-Q inspired toys, then a new app based on the classic (read that as "super-difficult" and also as "bad") Famicom game Mystery of Convoy. Now it seems we're getting an animated story of some type from DreamLink Entertainment, titled "Return of the Mystery of Convoy." Are we going to get animation of classic Transformers gaming icons such as Giant Decepticon Emblem Boss? Keep reading to see the teaser, with (Japanese) voice credits!
TakaraTomy Arts has posted a video detailing some of their products for late 2014 and 2015, including Original Playstation Optimus Prime and Mega Drive Megatron! Besides some nice turntable shots of the figures we also get a good comparison shot of each figure next to the console that inspired it. To see for yourself, keep reading and skip to 4:45 in the video!
