It seems that Takara Tomy has gotten the Volkwagen Group to loosen up a little bit and allow one of their brands to be associated with a fighting robot, according to a new image posted by CyberGundam Blog. The image shows a slide of the Transformers Masterpiece MP-12 Lambor (Sideswipe) along with the Lamborghini logo showing prominently.

It has always been known that Sideswipe, along with his brother Sunstreaker, are based off of Lamborghinis of the 1980s, but given that Volkswagen (the parent of Lamborghini since the late 1990s) has always shied away from their products being associated with war-fighting machines, this was a nice surprise.

Of course, this may just be done on a case-by-case basis, since the Volkswagen Beetle still appears to be off the table; however, the Audi R8 was not when Sideways took on the vehicle as an alternate mode in Transformers 2 Revenge of the Fallen.

The figure is set for an October 27, 2012 release for 5,800 Yen (~$72.80 USD).
