TCC Announces BotCon Set Wings of Honor Exclusives Figure and Event Details
By Primus on Friday, February 20, 2009
The folks over at BotCon have posted details for the 2009 convention that will be happening in Pasadena CA from May 28th to 31st. The news gives us our first details about the exclusive figures that will be offered by the Transformers Collectors Club.
Named the "Wings of Honor" the set is said to be about the formation of the Elite Guard that we learned about in the Transformers Animated cartoon series. It is unclear if the molds will be from Animated or another series. The action figure characters that were named for the Wings of Honor set include:
Wings of Honor Convention Set: A five-figure boxed set which includes
Kup, Thunderclash, Landshark, Flak, and Scourge, all presented in an
illustrated display box. Also included with the set is a certificate of
authenticity, tech specs and figure weapons.
This year’s chronicle embarks on a journey of discovery about an elite
group of Transformers that have guarded over peaceful Cybertronians all
the way back to the early days of the Great War! No one can explain this story better than the old war hero himself, Kup!
“Gather ‘round, lads. Now, did
I ever tell you the story of the
Battle of Beta 9? You see, long
before you were brought online,
we Autobots lived alongside
the Decepticons. We’d had
our tussles in the past but the
Autobot High Command was
able to keep peace between the
two sides. We had a pretty good
thing going in those days. Back
then, I had no idea that the life I
knew would soon change or that
I would be a part of the events that shaped a planet-wide civil war!
I may be an old timer now, but every veteran starts off as some rookie
kid. Our leader Thunderclash, he was truly one of a kind. I wouldn’t be
half the ‘bot I am without him. The other mechs in the unit, Flak, well,
he was what we called a strut-in-the-mud. A very heavily armed strut-inthe-
mud. But Landshark, he caused trouble like a ‘bot half his age. That
didn’t keep him from looking out for me from the start, though. The four
of us made quite a team...
Now, where was I, oh, the Battle on Beta 9. So, there we were, all four
of us, backs against the wall, fighting one of the creepiest Decepticons
I’ve ever had the misfortune to meet! Between him and his cronies, it
looked like we were due for the scrap heap. But we were quite the team
back then, and what went down on Beta 9 was big enough to change all
of us forever...
Now lads, let’s finish what we were workin’ on here
and I will tell you how four reconbots became the
Autobots’ first Elite Guard and how I lived to tell you
the tale!”
Don’t miss out on the all-new 2009 convention set

I'd actually like Animated exclusives... wait. No I wouldn't, because I'd be tempted to get them.

BUT Kup describes Thunderclash as the leader at that point so I think all fingers should point towards the Turbomaster leader rather than a minicon (btw if it turns out that one of the attendee figures is Rotorstorm PM me and I shall pay more than Botcon Seekers prices for him)

I doubt they'll use Animated molds...I just don't think there are enough to use! Waitaminute...why do I even care? I'll probably never get the toys anyway...they can use Star Wars Crossover molds for all it's worth.

If they are using the Energon LandMine mold that'll be funny on a personal level. I recently got a dup as well as a LandQuake and have them set up up around Omega Supreme as a new generation of Guardian Robots. Kinda coinsides with the whole Elite deal.

There will also be a 50 Dollar INCREASE to the boxed set price now. And in the middle of an economic crisis too. Oh well, no money for the BOTCONers from me. sigh.

Gotta say I'm one of the few that loves the animated line, so whether these are animated or classics, either way I'll be ordering a set, but not attending. Can we make a rule the damn convention has to be in the midwest so either side of the country can get there for a decent price? Its ba... read more

I'm kinda curious as to what molds they'll use, but at the same time there sure is a heck of a lot more important things I could put that money towards.

I have a feeling this is gonna be another mix of Cybertron and Classics figures. While I'm reserving final judgement until I see some pics or know the molds being used, it sounds like I'll abstain from going. Have better uses for the (called that awhile back).
