TCC Unveils Classic 2.0 Sunstreaker

By bwbm on Wednesday, January 23, 2008

Pete Sinclair of the Transformers Collectors' Club has revealed the Sunstreaker figure from the Transformers: Classics 2.0 line.

Announced at the 2007 Comic-Con, the Classics 2.0 is scheduled to arrive in fall 2008 with eight deluxe class figures and 3 to 4 Ultras planned.

Sunstreaker's vehicle mode is a yellow Lamborghini, which appears to pay tribute to the character's Generation One Countach model with some modern upgrades here and there, including the front end of the car.

The Autobot logo on the figure is placed on the roof of the vehicle.

In robot mode, Sunstreaker will remain overly yellow except for the Autobot logo on the chest and the two red lines on each shoulder. The rear end of the figure becomes the knee-cap area of the lower half.

Expect Sunstreaker's brother, Sideswipe, to sport approximately the same look, but in the color red with a new chest mold.

Wave 1 Deluxe's: Sunstreaker, Prowl, Tankor (formerly known as Octane)

Wave 1 Ultra's: Onslaught, Powerglide

Note: This image is the concept sketch shown during the IDW Publishing, Cartoon Network, Hasbro joint panel during the 2007 Comic-Con in San Diego and not the image revealed tonight by the club.

Too bad they don't have the rights to the name Octane anymore...what ever happend to Mega Octane? I guess they'd rather protect Tankor...they even used that name for a train Autobot once...

I seen this picture of Sunstreaker and Sideswipe just after comic con last year. These are old news. I've also seen the prototype pictures for some of the deluxes coming out. There's gonna be arcee, cosmos, cybertron mode Cliffjumper and Bumble bee and the Lambourgini bros. They need to make an Ironhide figure though. he so needs some decent treatment. I mean the G1 version was just bad. tlooked like his head was in a microwave......And then there was the Energon version. Just bad

Please keep in mind that the image that was revealed last night by the Transformers Collectors' Club is a club member exclusive. We are not going to post the image due to the wishes of the club.

The image we have posted instead is just for reference and the note above the image explains that.

I hate the TCC and will never become a member. Their "PAY TO PLAY" mentality is destructive to the transformers community, and makes me want to quit collecting transformers all together.

I somewhat agree with the TCC problem. On one hand, its fair play to have an exclusive club that some members pay for, but on the other hand, I feel Hasbro et al are not doing enough to ensure that this club is accessible to more people. I understand its about supply and demand (there isn't as much demand as we all think) and so in the USA, those concerned have had to limit production and increase price.

However, E-Hobby in Japan and specific toy magazines seem to manage selling exclusive toys well enough and pictures and news about them seem to be ok to print. Its not as if Takara and E-Hobby are forbidding pics of their upcoming exclusives now, are they?

I think if the quality of Botcon/TCC products was better and the whole thing was more accessible and somewhat cheaper then more people would join.

As it is, with the terrible "exclusive" candy-glass combiners offered and the high prices, then Im simply not interested.

I would also be happy if news concerning the club was restricted or in some way was programed at this site so non-members could simply filter "TCC" and not ever have to bother clicking on news items or even see them if they didnt want to. That would make me a happy bot...

That's a tad extreme, don't you think? I'm sure in a day's time some enterprising member will post the Sunstreaker figure's prototype shot in their blog or photobucket. From what I've read, he's pretty much a deluxe-class alternator.

You want to hear the worst of it? If you live outside of the USA then you have to pay US$89 for the membership. Hasbro are ***** nuts if they think that people will pay $89 for a few mags and a scout size figure per year. Sure next year it's the main body but that's only a deluxe and they'll probably up the price of membership that year.

They're getting to greedy with their "collector's special" mentality and I for one am fed up of it. Especially since they relesed the 3 most wanted figures as Botcon exclusives last year, and will not be re-releasing them with either colour or slight mold changes. Everyone I've ever seen talking on this site has stated that they would be more than happy to purchase the other 3 seekers at a reasonable price. So really there's no reason why they can't run a prodution run of them cause we all know they'd sell.

Hell make those 3 a pack that you can buy from the TCC and make the registration price reasonable and they might get a few more members. I know I would consider joining then

I say we sign a petition or something saying "Gimme my goddamn seekers in the classics line NOW!"

Transformers Club Membership - third class mail membership (the cheapest membership) = $40

Transformers newsletter (ooh la la) = $10 (member) $50 (nonmember)

Valentine special club exclusive astrotrain (purple ENERGON repaint) - $87 member, $127 non-member

Total money spent (taking into consideration the massive SAVINGS) by TCC member = $137

Your spouse/girlfriend dumping you for wasting money and getting her a ENERGON purple repaint for VALENTINES DAY.....PRICELESS

Buy a REAL ASTROTRAIN off ebay for $15... take the other $122 and have a blast with Franklin, Jackson, and the Washington twins.

There's a misunderstanding here. Everyone is railing Hasbro, but it's actually TFCC that is making the requests. TFCC has (as of now) the rights to show these images to their members. TFCC feels that, in order to 'promote' themselves that these images they have need to be kept in the eyesight of their members only. There have been several attempts to capture and save the image elsewhere on various photo sites, and they've all been caught and torn down.

* PERSONAL OPINION FOLLOWS*

Now, I agree that TFCC is being a bit destructive of themselves in doing this. They are only succeeding in alienating more potential members from joining their site. I was a member for the first year. In my opinion, the $40 wasn't worth it. You basically paid for the 'exclusive' figure that was nothing more than an old mold done in clear plastic. The 'newsletter' was an adaptation of their current classified ad with a 'leaflet' attached containing some TF news.

If TFCC really wants to attract more people, I suggest the following. 1) Drop the yearly exclusive figure. this will in turn let them drop the price of the yearly subscription. 2) Put more soul into the TF leaflet. In fact, make the TF magazine more pleasing than the classified ad that gets wrapped around it. 3) Don't alienate people that could potentially be subscribers. Just because TFCC has a hot new pic doesn't mean it should be hoarded, or that so much attention should be centered around a 'leaked' image. Leaks happen all the time, especially with the internet. Someone is gonna spread the leak. Don't get so uptight about it.

This should be a fun hobby, not a money grab and a claim to fame.

I completely agree with blitzwing. I would consider being a member if there were true perks... come on, a 3 seeker set for 300$ Where is the perk in that. Plus most of their exclusives look like crap.

And by hoarding this picture, they are just making me hate them more than i already do, it's a picture for heavens sake....

Back during the Classics 1.0 run, there was talk about a Classics version of Soundwave. It was canceled due to the reissue of the G1 figure at that time. What if Hasbro could do the figure with Classics 2.0? Love it? Hate it? What do you think?
