The annual Tokyo Toy Show has happened, and we've got photos of TakaraTomy's presentation and display via Dengeki Hobby! Primarily what was shown was MP-44 Optimus Prime Version 3.0, and this is our first look at its box art.
MP-44, due out in August, has been a controversial move for TakaraTomy's Masterpiece series - not because a new Optimus Prime figure in time for the 35th anniversary of Transformers is either unreasonable or unexpected, or even because it looks bad, because its animation stylings are definitely appealing to at least some fans. But no, it's the approximate price of $500 USD. Yes, you read that right: five hundred US dollars. And with the potential for the price of importing to increase this year, it could be even more for US collectors. An impressive piece, but a difficult pill to swallow...

Glad I pre-ordered mine on Amazon Japan last year for only $325.
I wouldn't give $200 for it let alone $500. Crazy. The ko will be $150 or less.
