There has been some mass confusion regarding the different color schemes of the Combaticon combiner Bruticus, which is from the Transformers Fall of Cybertron and will be released in Fall 2012.

This information was provided during the busy fervor that was Toy Fair 2012 (be sure to check out all non-Transformers news on ToyNewsI.com), and we actually did not notice we were handed two different sets of "official" images.

Until you guys told us that there are two different Transformers Fall of Cybertron Bruticus figures sporting two different color schemes that is.

So, what is going on here?

We will try our best to clear it up for you.

THE SHORT ANSWER

UPDATED: We now know that the game-accurate colors will be offered as a San Diego Comic Con 2012 exclusive.

Bottom line up front is this: we do not have an official answer.

But, we have reached out to Hasbro for comment.

But we are leaning to the Hasbro colors.

THE CONFUSION

The version of the toy that we saw at the Toy Fair 2012 display are the same ones that Hasbro sent to us but the Activision versions were the same ones shown in the recent issue of Game Informer.

During the showroom tour, Hasbro said that once the colors are committed to plastic (prototype or otherwise) they are pretty much the final colors, with only slight modifications.

So, what about the images? We are not exactly sure why we were given different versions of the same day.

On the same day as the Media Event, Activision and Hasbro both sent us a set of images of Bruticus as well as each of the limbs - Brawl, Blast Off, Swindle, Onslaught, and Vortex - in robot and vehicle modes.

The Activision version, shown on the left side below, depicts Blast Off in "chocolate brown" and Swindle in a gold color.

However, take a look at the Hasbro version on the right: relatively the same pose, same awkward combined look, but completely different colors.

Blast Off is blue and Swindle is more yellow than gold and it appears that the Bruticus chest is a little different (althought that could be a perspective thing).

Just for giggles, here are comparisons of Blast Off and Swindle in robot mode with the Activision version on the left and Hasbro version of the right. Again, click each image to get a bigger look.

See? Same bizarre colors differences.

MOCK-UP VS REAL

The images provided by Activision look more doctored (read: Photoshopped) than the Hasbro images, but most of the time, colors between mock-up and the final colors do not drastically vary like this.

We can only speculate that somewhere in the design process Hasbro decided to try different colors.

There was some buzz in the community that the figures will be more true to the game, but then we heard about the colors and committing to plastic and being final, which makes the situation more muddy.

THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION

So here is a question you may be asking yourself: "Will the colors of the characters be faithful to the Generation 1 counterparts in the video game itself?"

The answer is yes.

Mr. Tieger made a joke about "chocolate brown" Blast Off and designing him within the game, so he will be true to the G1 colors.

We can only assume the same can be said for Swindle and the other characters.

Swindle, in the game preview we were shown, was also depicted in the colors that we see in the images of the toy provided by Activision.

Regardless, we should be glad that we are getting a combiner toy with all limbs in Deluxe mode (i.e., massive combiner) and a massive Transformer to play in a game, respectively.

The first image of each mode for each character is the image Activision provided while the second is Hasbro's.

So, for example, the first image for Blast Off in robot mode was provided to us by Activision and the second by Hasbro; the first image for Blast Off in vehicle mode was provided to us by Activision and the second by Hasbro; and so on.
