Transformers Toys Display and News from 2013 Australia Hobby Toy Fiar - Metroplex, Generations, Beast Hunters
Jack - Monday, March 04, 2013

Thanks again to griffin at Ozformers who once again keeps us up to date on all the Transformers news that is happening down-under. He's posted a report on the The Transformers Wall display that is the largest feature a the Hasbro exhibit this year. Most of what was shown was previewed at Toy Fair last month. The notable items to report include box images and Bios for Generations Springer and Blitzwing, Some new Kreo Sets, New Botshots toys and some bad news that many of the Transformers Prime Season 2 toys will not be offered to fans in Australia. Read details below.

The Metroplex toy was talked about, but not shown due to the figure shown at Toy Fair being the only one Hasbro has right now. The figure will be released in Australia in early Fall to be ready Christmas time. No work on pricing or retailers were mentioned at the show.

The Transformers Prime Beast Hunters Ultimate Class Optimus and Predaking will be released in August 2013 as a non-exclusive retailer wide figure.

Also shown were some new Kreo figures including the 5 packs and a Command base. Many new Bot Shots were also shown including the multi-packs and more that Hasbro says are selling better than expected.

Finally, we get some looks at the boxes for the Generations Voyager class triple changers Spinger and Blitzwing. We have confirmation that Blitzwing does indeed have three rotating faces that pay homage to the Transformers Animated cartoon character. Read their character bio summaries from the boxes below.

Autobot Springer Character Bio Summary

Autobot Springer was built to be a tough guy. Everything about him, from his nickel-plated blaster cannon to his bad-boy attitude, is calculated to communicate exactly what he wants it to-that he's a no-holds-barred, take-no-prisoners kind of guy. He prefers to fight alone, trusting his skills and luck to get him out of tight spots, rather than relying on his fellow warriors. After all, other Autobots fail. Autobot Springer never does.

Blitzwing Character Bio Summary

With his heavily armored and highly destructive body, Blitzwing has the ice-cold mind of a master strategist-sometimes. At other times, he is a boiling cauldron of rage, waiting for any excuse to unleash his firepower on the nearest target. And now and again he is a chaotic whirlwind of bizarre behavior and intermittent bursts of plasma fire. His unpredictability makes him a poor soldier, but his raw firepower and unstable mind make him a useful tool for a commander as capable as Megatron.

More Generations News
It's that time again, with Titans Return episode 6, "Desperate Actions" hitting the go90 streaming service. We haven't watched it yet, so we have no idea what to tell (or warn) you about for this episode. Keep reading for a link so you can discover it for yourself!
Another chance! Via Ben's World of Transformers, one Bowser A. Flatliner reports that Titans Return Deluxe Arcee with Titan Masters Leinad and Ultra Magnus were sighted in a physical ToysRUs store! The going rate for the set was $26.99 - and they're being displayed in their featureless boxes, which we're still 100% certain were designed as mailers for an aborted Transformers Fan Club. Happy Hunting!
The website Time & Space put up a gallery of images of an interesting new promotion for the AU x Transformers Infobar Optimus Prime figure: a cardboard sculpture of the toy! The intricately designed and assembled sculpture is the work of artist Monami Ohno, whose work in the medium of cardboard is very impressive indeed- even the logos and numbers on the phone parts are carefully-cut cardboard. Keep reading to see the image!
Thanks to Kevin Liu we now have a very good look at Leader class Rodimus Prime, capping off the first wave of Power of The Primes. Kevin's video is of course in Chinese, but presented clearly enough to tell what's going on anyway. Most interestingly, we get side by sides with Titans Return Hot Rod, which shows the Hot Rod form of this toy to actually be a fair bit bigger. As Titans Return Hot Rod was already a bit big for a Deluxe, you can imagine the new one is surely pushing the boundaries of being comparable with Deluxes! The video as well as plenty of screencaps can all be found below - keep reading to see it all!
Through a Facebook video, we finally have a look at the retail version of POTP Rodimus Prime, the second toy in the first Leader assortment. Sadly the video itself is probably not worth watching, being both shot in vertical/portrait orientation and being quite low-res. You can find stills taken from the video highlighting key points for a quick look at the toy. We do have the video embedded just below as well, if you're dying to see the toy in action or get an early look at how some of the transformation works. Click through to check it all out!
