Transformers 2 got Dinobots and Constructicons?

Insider =VK= has lets us in on a rumor about the Transformers 2 movie that may confirm some of the suggestions that were made at last year's BotCon about the new robots in the movie. We have been told its a good bet: "... they will be the Dinobots and the Constructicons and that Michael will spill the beans on this closer to production." As with everything, we're going to have to wait and see what the official word is to be sure. Stay tuned for more details as they become available.

Just, the image provided doesn't feel "transformers the movie"ishy. Kinda like the teaser-ish images of the VW bb and starscream of sector seven, eh? Still, I'm hoping they're gonna do them justice.
And BlackZarack, I suggest you crawl under a rock and hide there for the rest of your life, if you don't want your precious memories spoiled. Might as well create a time machine, so you can live in the 80's forever.
....if you do, please give me a call, would be neat to see how everything was back then, since I was a tad too young to remember, because if people keep whining about how good everything was back then, I'm guessing fountains shot liquid gold or something, and transformers toys were super articulated and show accurate and such. Definitely NOT the 30 minute commercials they are today! |

I'm not trying to claim in any way that we reached some sort of perfection in the 80's, frankly, I think G1 is a silly and badly done show. However, I think that over the years the Dinobots and Constructicons have become extremely popular characters and that people are going to be fairly pissed off when Bay reveals that the Grimlock is an ATV or something and the group is called the Dynabots because Bay thinks dinosaurs are stupid (just like mass shifting, but then there's the Allspark.) I could care less if the Dinobots and Constructicons look EXACTLY like their G1 versions, all I'm saying is you guys shouldn't be getting stiffies over the possibility because you're probably going to extremely disappointed. I'm...not even sure what kind of argument you're trying to make here. I didn't say MY childhood memories, I said YOURS, as in every fan who will whine and complain when Grimlock is said ATV. I could care less because I haven't watched a TF show since BW and am primarily concerned with just the toys. Plus, judging by horrible the first one was, there's no possible way that two will be any better. It just goes to reason since that Bay ignored pretty much all the background of the series to make the first one, that he will do the same for two. Resulting in, you guessed it: Grimlock ATV. So now you can make the obligatory "Well, if it sucks so much, why don't you just not see it?" Thanks for the question little Timmy, to answer, I had already planned not to.

Dinosaur/Dinobot =/= Robots In Disguise.

Grimlock lands on earth and takes a hit to head, knocking a servo loose. Making him the lovable dumb Grimlock from the cartoon we all know and love (and not the cynical backstabbing Grimlock from the comic book, although he was cool in his own special way), and he stubbles into some Dinosaur park with animatronic dinos and uses that to "blend" into earth, not knowing any better.

With a writer's strike on and no end in sight, no completed script for 2 done yet, and nothing moving, this is a long ways off. Personally, if it ain't coming from Don Murphy himself, I don't trust any rumor associated with this movie franchise.

The big thing is this is still a rumour (as it has been for quite some time). Until we get legitimate conformation and some character designs this really isn't news. (even then Bay is planning on waisting lots of time and money with elaborate false leaks, remember- although I have a feeling this will come to pass. But what do I know?) |

I like organic shape robots, like Evangelions, and transforming massive robots, like Gaogaigar, but these scrap sculptures are just ugly.
I prefer don´t see Dinobots on that way. |

It's easy to see the Dinobots getting the transmission Prime sent out and coming to join the fight. They could be anywhere and the dino form could come from anything. Heck, they can be described to be a search party that came after the All Spark millions of years ago and have been trapped in a cave or whatever since. Ratchet can find them and reactivate them, Anything can be written in the way the movie is set up. |

Bay's interpretation of the Dinobots will be to have cars and planes and tanks and crap that transform into ROBOT DINOSAURS. Not Robot Dinosaurs the transform into Robot People, but actual disguised "stuff" that instead of transforming into a humanoid form, transforms into a dinosaur form, ala Ravage the cassette tape transforming into a robot jaguar. |

In fact, I'd be willing to say that that has a better chance of becoming a realization than a dinosaur transforming into a humanoid form, although I do like the idea of Grimlock stumbling across a dinosaur museum and using that as his disguise :). As for the Constructicons, it'll probably be just one, like with Brawl/Devastator. And just for the record, I really enjoyed the movie and the designs. The character development could've used some work, but I'm really looking forward to the second movie and seeing more transformers...whenever that'll be. |

Actually, that's a still-frame from a CGI video clip from the Sector Seven website from last Summer. It was part of the marketing blitz for the movie.

But Dinobot vs. Costructicon is nostalgic and all, but construction vehicles don't have any weapons. Now COMBATICONS (W/ blast off being A jet) sounds A lot better because this way it's A 5 on 5 Fight.
