Transformers 3 To Be In 3D, Villain & Some Plot Details Revealed
jay - Thursday, June 10, 2010

USAToday has released an article with new details about the upcoming third installment in the Transformers movie franchise from Dreamworks and company. According to the article, the movie will be in 3D and will feature the Decepticon known as Shockwave as the main villain, along with Megatron I am sure.

In the article, director Michael Bay and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura say they will be getting rid of the dorky comedy - and when someone dies, they will stay dead this time. They also hint this movie may contain at least one death.

Most of the plot details are being kept under wraps but it appears the movie revolve around the space race between the U.S.S.R. and the USA, suggesting there was a hidden Transformers role in the race that remains one of the planet's most dangerous secrets.

"The movie is more of a mystery," Bay says. "It ties in what we know as history growing up as kids with what really happened."

The article also mentions that Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) will be taking his first tenuous steps into adulthood while remaining a reluctant human ally of Optimus Prime. "Shia has this great line: 'You know, I've saved the world twice, but I can't get a job,' " di Bonaventura says. Shia also mentions he will miss his former co-star Megan Fox who was recently dropped from the Transformers movies and replaced by Victoria Secrets model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Shia goes on to say that with the change in co-stars, there will be discovery again with the characters.

Transformers 3 is slated to open in theaters on July 1, 2011.

Well, let's just hope they even give Shock Wave a toy, I mean look at poor little Fallen, enfisis on little. Well, he better be big, smart, lasery, and cybertronian. P.S. G1 SS is awesome, movie is not.

I'm excited about a 3rd movie, and the decision to use Shockwave. Doesn't mean that the previous movies (esp #2) were anywhere near up to the potential they could have been - but it's still great to have a blockbuster TF movie to see. The key is lower your expectations and be pleasant... read more

yep, he was just a flying gun. While I like Gun Megatrons and such for toys, I can see why they wouldn't want to use it as an alt in the fictions again. What I'd like to see are the gun/bots remade as placement cannons. Especialy Megatron, I have yet to see a tank Megatron that I really l... read more

Bay turned down the idea of Megatron turning into a handgun. In the fiction, Bruticus aside, Shockwave was never treated as a handgun.

Okay TF 3 is going to be in 3-D, an Shockwave will be there too, but I'm betting that he will not have an alternet mode of a gun in TF 3. Why? Because Bay turned down the idea of the alternet mode of gun with Megatron in TF 2007. I can see Shockwave as a jet like in WFC though.

Shockwave should be fun, he is one of favorite characters to go back and watch in Gen. 1. I just hope they don't rob him for sreen time like they did to megatron in TF1.

I'll just PM you about it.... As for the topic, I'm never taking anything bay says for truth anymore. Remember how he tried to cover his ass when we started seeing lots of Megatron pics? Said he was only in a flashback. It's like he's trying to use some sort of JJ Abrams "omg ... read more

Sonoma News is reporting that Paramount Pictures is casting local talent for the new Transformers Bumblebee: Brighton Falls film that has begun shooting in San Rafael, California recently. The report says production will continue along the North Coast with shooting scheduled for additional locations such as the Marin Headlands, Mare Island and Vallejo and a possible wrap in September at Santa Cruz, California. The Marin Independent Journal is reporting today that production for Transformers Universe: Bumblebee has begun in the Peacock Gap area, in San Rafael, California. The movie caught attention recently by taking a sizeable incentive from the state of California to film the entire movie within its borders. This leg of production is reportedly codenamed Brighton Falls, though whether that will relate to the content of the movie, such as the location it takes place in, is unknown. A photo from just outside the closed filming was posted with the article. You can find that mirrored below.
The new release of 2007's Leader Class movie Optimus Prime under the Transformers Tribute subline is now available for purchase in the US via Amazon. Like the Orion/Optimus Evolution 2 pack before it, this is apparently an Amazon exclusive. But, unlike the very unexpectedly reasonable price point of the 2 pack, Leader Optimus is currently listed at $79.99. But of course that does mean it qualifies for free shipping whether or not you're an Amazon Prime member. Is the very first movie Optimus with a fancy updated deco worth that to you? If so, hit the link in the full post below, and keep reading for a set of new stock photos of the toy.

Hailee Steinfeld, the first confirmed cast member and lead character in the upcoming Transformers Universe: Bumblebee, has shared on social media a quick behind the scenes photo of herself in wardrobe. On the instagram post, the photo has the caption, "Meet Charlie Watson", revealing to us the name of her character. Bumblebee recently boasted the addition of John Cena in a starring role, on the same day it was made known the movie's debut had been pushed back to December of 2018 from its original June premiere. Confirming a job listing by Boulder Media earlier this week and long-ago reports of plans stemming from the fables TFCU Writers' Room, Hasbro announced in today's investor meeting that a CGI Transformers movie is in the works! Set in the current film continuity but with no firm release date, it is part of a larger commitment by Hasbro to release one animated movie a year. Keep reading for details!
