Transformers 3 To Be In 3D, Villain & Some Plot Details Revealed

USAToday has released an article with new details about the upcoming third installment in the Transformers movie franchise from Dreamworks and company. According to the article, the movie will be in 3D and will feature the Decepticon known as Shockwave as the main villain, along with Megatron I am sure.

In the article, director Michael Bay and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura say they will be getting rid of the dorky comedy - and when someone dies, they will stay dead this time. They also hint this movie may contain at least one death.

Most of the plot details are being kept under wraps but it appears the movie revolve around the space race between the U.S.S.R. and the USA, suggesting there was a hidden Transformers role in the race that remains one of the planet's most dangerous secrets.

"The movie is more of a mystery," Bay says. "It ties in what we know as history growing up as kids with what really happened."

The article also mentions that Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) will be taking his first tenuous steps into adulthood while remaining a reluctant human ally of Optimus Prime. "Shia has this great line: 'You know, I've saved the world twice, but I can't get a job,' " di Bonaventura says. Shia also mentions he will miss his former co-star Megan Fox who was recently dropped from the Transformers movies and replaced by Victoria Secrets model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Shia goes on to say that with the change in co-stars, there will be discovery again with the characters.

Transformers 3 is slated to open in theaters on July 1, 2011.
