According to website Deadline Hollywood, Director Michael Bay and his crew will "likely" begin shooting Transformers 3 in May of this year.

The news is buried in with actor Shia Labeouf signing with CAA after leaving WME last December.

Transformers 3 is tentatively slated for a July 1, 2011 release date, so the May time frame is not surprising.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen began filming in May 2008 and released this past summer.

We have not heard anything about returning characters except the obvious Shia Labeouf and Megan Fox or Mr. Bay generating buzz on a new script (there was a fake one, though).

General Motors has also not officially announced they will continue to be a partner with the film franchise, but since they benefited nicely from the two films, it is safe to say they will stay on board.
