UK Toy Fair 2012 Transformers News - Generations, Prime Weaponizers, Optimus Maximus, Kre-O, More
Jack Q - Tuesday, January 24, 2012

Thanks to the kind fans at FMH who have posted a report on the Transformers display at the Toy Fair 2012 event going on in the UK this week. The report offers up some insights on the shape of things to come this year.

Highlights include new on new products coming to the Generations line that is to include 8 new figures. The Transformers Prime Weponizers with Leader class figures that feature 4-modes of play and more. Then there is this new thing they call Optimus Maximus. A transforming figure who's alternate mode is a base for your Cyberverse figures.

According to Full Metal Hero, Hasbro has nice looking display this year with the traditional suite of their own for showing new product to prospective retailers. Again this year, no photography was allowed but here's the highlights of what we will see in the coming year.

GENERATIONS
This will be great news for many fans that 8 new figures are coming to the Generations line. FMH reports on a "hard copy" of Jazz that looks like a sports car, with 4 wheels, and has a Cybertronian look to it. They confirm the line will carry on under the Generations name and may include Grimlock.

PRIME WEAPONIZERS
We've had some sneak peeks and reveals on these new guys and it appears we're gonna see more of them with a full reveal likely at Toy Fair 2012 in New York City. FMH reports they got to see Leader class Optimus Prime and Bumblebee action figures on display that have been simplified to younger fans. The new figure are reported to have four modes of play that include concealed weapons and other features.

OPTIMUS MAXIMUS
Cyberverse gets more gnarly with even more Base goodness. Let your imaginations run wild for a Figure / Playset that is large enough to transform from a "figure" into a base for your Cyberverse action figures. That's some serious scale, larger then a Leader class we have to guess. FMH says the thing has lights, sounds, and firing rockets that you can shoot.

NEW KRE-O
Kre-O continues with new sets of multiple figures revealed such as Decepticon Ambush thatis a Kreon base. Cycle Chase pack includes Prowl and 2 Kreons. Decepticon Helicopter that is a Starscream look-alike repaint with 3 Kreons and "quad bike." Kre-O Stealth Bumblebee, a black colored mold with 3 Kreons. Transformers Prime Kre-O Race Car Showdown, Knock Out and Wheeljack 2 pack with Kreons mini figures. Kre-O G1 Optimus Vs Megatron set features Optimus Prime vs G1 Megatron with tank mode, playset and 3 kreons. And, if we did have enough of them, Kre-O Devastator. Its a 9 in 1 playset that mixed of G1 style robots with the movie colors on 4 on them. FMH reports they don't look anywhere as bad as the controversial ROTF Devastator figure set.

OTHER TRANSFORMERS STUFF
FHM has reported those items as the highlights of the show with the rest of the display dedicated to much of the product we know of already including Cyberverse Legion, Commander and Cyberverse Vehicles class figures, The Transformers Prime First edition, RID Revealers, Powerizers, and Weaponizers. Odds and ends include Battle Masks and Bot Shots.

Sunstorm and Icestorm would be awesome, and after seeing that G2 Sandstorm up for auction I wouldn't mind one of those either. Releasing a U.S. version of Stepper/Ricochet is a no-brainer to me, but it would irk the folks that paid $100+ to import him

I am really hoping optimus maximus looks like metroplex or FM, or another unique cityformer, and not like a oversized optimus prime...

I would love to see Kup repainted into Orion Pax, but mostly I want a Sunstorm and Icestorm

I hope Generations isn't rather than another lame toy only "nemesis Prime"! And maybe an American version of Stepper/Ricochet. And what about an Orion Pax from Kup? (If Takara can do it, why not Hasbro?)

Out of all those, only the Generations fully gets my interest. Although I am very interested in getting TF Prime Wheeljack, if I can find him. A War For Cybertron Jazz will be very welcome for sure.

Yeah, Kre-o really should be a poll option, but regardless Optimus Maximus would've (and did) gotten my vote. I hope OM is half as awesome as I imagine him to be.

Why doesn't the poll have Kre-O as an option? Its continued existence is the best news in the report!

I really like the news about Kre-o Devestator. at the very least it's a new mold combiner. Regarding, the 2012 Generations FOC 8 figures. was their any size levels mentioned? will they all be deluxes. I'd prefer some be deluxes, some be voyagers & one or two be ultra's. I'm kind... read more

Hasbro was excellent enough to send us over a very large box filled with a number of the exclusive items they had on offer at SDCC and just this week on Hasbro Toy Shop for us to check out. We'll be working on bringing you coverage of these items very soon, but in the meantime you can find out just what all we received by checking out the unboxing video I shot as I cracked in to the shipping carton. And let me tell you, there was no wasted space in that box! That video is embedded below, and be sure to watch for more coverage on these items coming up!
Yesterday (just about 24 hours ago from the time of this post) many of Hasbro's SDCC exclusives went live on Hasbro Toy Shop. While Star Wars merchandise was revealed to be held back until September 1st, Transformers, GI Joe, Marvel, and Magic: The Gathering items all activated to a waiting population of SDCC non-attendees. It was a question as to the overall response, since the 2016 exclusive offerings were notable for not selling through very quickly. Keep reading for a rundown on what happened next!

Chris McFeely has posted his videos from the TFNation 2017 panel on the G1 episode "Heavy Metal War"! In these videos - timed to go along with the live presentation at the con - storyboards are compared to the final animation, the differences between that animation and the error-filled rough cuts are shown, and a series of extended and deleted scenes are reconstructed with a combination of the recently-discovered G1 dialogue tapes and the storyboards! Keep reading to see!
SDCC this year featured exclusives in a bit different style from what we're used to, but still made a good showing. For all of us who weren't able to go to San Diego and spend hours in lines waiting to try to buy some of the goodies in person, the home edition of that game is about to start. At some unspecified time tomorrow, Hasbro Toy Shop will go live with inventory of several exclusives, including Primitive Skateboarding Optimus, the Revolution 16-Figure Box Set, and Voyager Movie Optimus with a piece of material from a screen-used vehicle tire. Keep reading for a link to the Exclusives category and more info!
