Considering some of the things I've read on here when it comes to the design/suspected plot of the movie, I wouldn't be surprised if what he's saying is true. The hardcore G1 fans comprise one of the worst fandoms I've ever experienced, and I'm an anime fan.

Well KOG, there's been a general slackening in TF:Movie hate on the net for the last month or so. A lot of it had to do with the latest trailers being honestly impressive and just plain the notion that we've had a year to get used to the designs. And the toys are selling pretty well to prove this.

Besides, I have got to think there are worse fandom divisions out there.... Star Trek vs TNG for instance. I've heard some heated debates about that whole thing live in the flesh. Although it's probably sloppy reporting, rather than something Bay said (or made up)-
I would think Bay's robot designs would have been what would have caused these alleged death threats, not his hiring as the director.
Although I'm now thoroughly hyped to see this movie- it still bugs me how he struts around bragging about changing totally meaningless things like Prime's flames (one of the few changes that never bothered me) in spite of the fans.
And now he's talking like Ghostbusters is some awful movie. I'm not sure what that comment had to do with anything, but it was generally regarded as a classic last time I checked.

No...Bay isn't talking smack about Ghostbusters. See, this is the point to this whole thing...people read what he says, and takes it to heart and gets all angry over it. He wasn't ripping on GB, just stated that he wanted Transformers to be a different type of movie. I'm guessing he didn't want Transformers to be listed as a "comedy", or some whimsical family adventure...but a serious (with SOME humor) action Sci-Fi movie. I read zero negativity towards Ghostbusters!

Death threats from angry fans are very very common amongst many properties. Theyre stupid and in most cases, non life threatening.
Ive been around fans who have very well thought out opinions that go both for and against ideas.
Transfans are not the worst by far. But on certain web sites, it can seem that way.
Theres many fans out there who dont even know this site even exists. I found it by google a long time ago.
Keep at heart that the way everyone including I, reacted the first time we saw the designs and stills, will be presented by the fans living outside the internet when they first see these things.
Even in full motion, a lot will be saying either "wheres stars scream and soundwave? Which one is megatron??" or "THATS Starscream!?!?" "NO soundwave!?!?"
But to the rest of us, this is old news so we've grown a bit desensitized.
I know I have. I still hate the designs. But I made my point a long time ago just for the sake of letting it out my system and not because i give a rats ass what any of you think. I mean, thats the truth on my end.
I dont have high hopes for this film, but thats the game here. Thats whats fun about it. You go in, get surprised, walk out hopefully saying, "that was actually bad ass".
And not, "f-ck...i knew it was gonna suck. Thanks Bay and the rest of your lackies".
I dont approve of death threats. Thats taking it to a legal extreme thats completely unecesarry.
When I see this movie, I wont be making loud obnoxious remarks either. It all stays in my head. If it bugs me that much, I'll simply switch movies. No one gives a sht about what I think and neither do I. But, if theres someone who wants to know what i think, like I said... meh designs, meh Michael Bay movies, meh video game, meh toys...
But consider this, Im an adult now. Why would I truely expect these things have me the way they did when I was 8? Maybe you have an answer. I dont really
