Transformers Universe MMO Beta Coming Soon - Kris Jones Talks About Beta and More
By Jack Q on Tuesday, August 09, 2011
According to a new article on Eurogamer, the beta testing for free-to-play browser MMO Transformers Universe will begin "very soon." In a recent interview, Jagex has mentioned they are hard at work on the first Massively Multiplayer Online game for the Transformers property. Many are hoping this will be the Transformers game we have all been waiting for, and its drawing nearer as development progresses.
Executive Producer Kris Jones talks about the games release in 2012, and lets us know with a release coming next year, the beta will be coming very soon. Jagex has 55 people on staff working hard on the new MMO game that will allow players to not only play as a Transforming robot, but allow them to design their own bot from the ground up:
"Some people want to be tanks, some people want to be motorbikes, some people want to be sports cars, some people want to be an SUV. It's very much down to the person. It's very easy to say, 'Oh I want to be a Jet,' but I think you'll end up with a wide variety of what people will want to be," said Jones."
The Transformers Universe MMO game is built on top of the RuneScape game engine that is independent of any operating system becuase it runs inside your Web browser. According to Jones, there will be more than meets the eye with a lot of the game's look being taken from Transformers: Prime - The Animated Series, but is said to have access to the entire Transformers Universe.
"All I can say is we're going for the most variety we can have," said Jones. "We're all massive Transformers fans; we know what Transformers fans are going to want."
