Updated: Megan Fox Out for Transformers 3 & New Love Interest for Sam Witwicky?

By bwbm on Wednesday, May 19, 2010

Updated: Ms. Fox says she it was her decision to leave Transformers 3, reports People, citing spokespeople for the actress. "She wishes the franchise the best."

Original Post:

According to Deadline Hollywood, citing an insider, Paramount Pictures has decided not to pick up the option on Megan Fox's contract for Transformers 3 and will begin to search for a new female lead immediately.

The gossip website reports that the decision was "ultimately" Director Michael Bay's decision.

Could Megan Fox be ousted by Michael Bay in favor of a new girl for Shia?

The same insider says that as Mr. Bay and Ehren Krueger are finishing up the script for the third installment of the giant robot franchise, "giving Shia [LaBeouf] a new love interest makes more sense for the story."

Here are two things that run counter to this new rumor:

First, Mr. Bay claimed last November that he won't be killing off Ms. Fox in the third film , although he has been known to lie.

Mr. Bay made these comments to calm the masses over Ms. Fox's comments comparing Mr. Bay to Hitler as well as criticizing his directorial skills.

Second and most recently, Ms. Fox was spotted in Los Angeles along with a Chevrolet Camaro all decorated like Bumblebee.

What do you think this all means? Will Mikaela Banes be taken out in the third film? Or will the character simply just go away?

These people don't even have a solid script yet, I'm sure re-shooting is commonplace.

Agreed, pedantry aside, she played an uppity bitch who spoke without a damn bit of respect or cognition of the social situation in her voice. That would have been fine, considering that she was supposed to be a "nerd," except I also got an extreme feminist "I'm better than these ... read more

Well, everyone else has voiced their opinion on Ms. Fox's departure, amongst other things, so I may as well chime in while it is still a current issue... Yeah, it's rant-time

Well the movie is like 95% eye candy anyways, so an actress with looks but no talent seems about right.

Perhaps emboldened by the amazing success of Marvel's take on a shared continuity for its increasingly numerous movies and now TV projects, Hasbro has made known their plans to try this approach with the Transformers movie series. But what can we expect from this direction, and how might it affect Transformers 5? Keep reading for some thoughts.
In what may be remembered as the least surprising news of 2015, it sounds like Michael Bay will be returning again for the next installment in the Transformers film series. At CinemaCon, Vice Chairman of Paramount Rob Moore was said to have "promised" theatre owners attending the event that Bay was already in the process of developing the next Transformers movie. It was previously reported that Bay had opted to take on a different project which would keep him from directing a fifth Transformers movie. Keep reading for more!
Entertainment Weekly confirms that Hasbro has hired writer Akiva Goldsman to head up the writing team that will work on expanding the Transformers movie world into a broader cinematic franchise. CEO Brian Goldner revealed this in Hasbro's quarterly earnings conference call yesterday, and added that Transformers 5 is expected in 2017. A director is not mentioned, and while Michael Bay was named in connection with the project in rumors it's entirely logical that the financially successful director would be consulted on what "his" franchise would do next. The TransformersAsia Facebook page has posted a wealth of images of the new Ultimate Optimus Prime, showing off what almost has to be the definitive version of Optimus as he appeared in Transformers (2007), Revenge Of The Fallen, and Dark Of the Moon.
