Wyatt: Tons of G1 Concepts Begging To Be In Animated

By bwbm on Monday, October 13, 2008 @ 11:19:11 AM

Transformers Animated Lead Character Designer Derrick Wyatt has hinted at the possibility of Generation 1 concepts appearing in the television series, as well as some insight into The Arrival comic book.

"There are absolutely TONS [emphasis Mr. Wyatt's -ed] of G1 concepts that are practically begging to be in Animated," writes Mr. Wyatt on his blog A Delightful Tedium.

"Maybe some of them will get to [appear]."

He also provides some insight on the character Oil Slick, which will appear in IDW Publishing's Transformers Animated: The Arrival comic book series:

Eric Siebenaler from Hasbro showed me his concept for Oilslick right from the get go. I was too busy with show stuff to give much input, but liked what he had done anyway. How could I not like a bot with a Mr. Freeze tank on his head and a ram skull on his shoulder? We really consider Eric to be part of the show's creative team anyway.

Mr. Wyatt also writes that because Marty Isenberg, the lead writer of the Transformers Animated series, wrote the five-issue miniseries The Arrival, it is considered part of the series' continuity. He also reveals that he has provided some designs for the comic book.

Mr. Isenberg also had a hand in the storyline for the upcoming Transformers Animated video game for the Nintendo DS, writes Mr. Wyatt.

Thanks, "Caine"!

Well i think this is b/c that Sideswipe is a UK comic design. Its pretty obvious that the Sideswipe design we saw isn't the same aesthetic. I just read issue 2 of "The Arrival" , and Oil Slick will be in 3. I really like his toy and i think he will be a good edition to the comic (&a... read more

I sure hope his earlier comments about Jetfire/Jetstorm are right.

Interesting how he didn't even know about Sideswipe until pictures appeared on the fan sites.
