Say it ain't so! Wal-Mart and Target have both labeled the Transformers: Animated line as cancelled and will no longer be stocking new figures beyond what has already been shipped, according to "TFVanguard" at the
TFArchive forums.
This is on the heels of the
announcement by BigBadToyStore that Hasbro, Inc. has cancelled the Transformers: Animated Wave 7 figures.
He cites that whenever a Target store labels their peg marks with a "silver button," it means the line is cancelled, and his local Target store has done just that.
He does not provide a reason for how Wal-Mart has revealed that the Animated line is cancelled.
I contacted my good friend Shane, who is a Target employee, and he said that when he scans a Transformers Animated barcode, it still comes up as "active." He also comments that they have plenty in stock.
"The silver dot is our version of out of stock, on order, and/or discontinued," he told me. "It may just be temporarily out of stock in that store."
"TFVanguard" also wrote that he went back to the same Target store several days later and was completely restocked with newly arrived figures like
Samurai Prowl, but the silver button was still there.
We're not exactly sure what this means, really. However, it could be possible that the particular store could have run out of stock and put up the silver button until they received another shipment.
Once the shipment arrived, an employee restocked the shelves but simply didn't bother or forgot to take off the silver button.
