The numbers are in and it appears Hasbro's planned foray into hot Hollywood movie properties has saved the day.
The company is reporting that sales rose 23% to $908.5 million compared to $737.8 million in the same period last year.
According to their statement, sales have picked up with the onset of the Transformers Dark of the Moon worldwide film release in June, with the boys category skyrocketing 96% to $460.4 million.
International segment also hit a strong beat, up 43% to $374.5 million with growth in every major geographic region.
U.S. and Canada segment revenues were up 14% to $505.0 million.
In a statement in the press release, President and Chief Executive Brian Goldner said, "As expected, top-line momentum in our business began to build during the quarter, led by strong gains in the Transformers brand, driven by Transformers: Dark of the Moon, and Beyblade, as well as continued double-digit growth in the international segment."
This news is much anticipated as it follows two quarters of losses by the second largest toy maker in the world.
