I just wanted to throw some lines about my impressions about episode #1 of ENERGON.
Though I will try to avoid potential spoilers, precaution is strongly advised.
ANIMATION: Very satisfying to me. The blending of 2D and 3D looks pretty well done and impressive. Though I wish to see the robots animated the way Beast Wars were animated.
PLOT: Contrary to the dissapointment with Armada, I am more pleased with the way Energon started out. First, there was more action than in Armada. Second, we have several sub-plots going on at once. Certainly having Battle Ravage and Divebomb as drone hordes ensures more destruction. I am comformed as long as there are sentient generals.
OPENING/ENDING: Well, the Opening animation was good, but I would like to have something more elaborated, as in other anime shows. The Ending was same as Armada (screen splited in two; credits on one side, animation on the other) but with different animation.
OTHER COMMENTS: I am aware this is just episode one of the series, so I won't hold my breath wishing for a great series, though I am optimistic. Now that I mention that word, Optimus transformation was quite interesting. It reminds me Voltron (Lion) a lot! The way each part joined and how thin OP's legs were when the leg component merged. I was expecting to hear "And I'll form the head!" :P
Wishing the best for Energon!
