Thursday was the first day of New York Comic-Con itself, and featured panels promoting Hasbro's media efforts. In addition to the Robots in Disguise 2015 panel which we covered live, an IDW Comics panel took place later that same afternoon. Radio Free Cybertron was in attendance and took lots of photos during the presentation which we've mirrored here. Keep reading to see them and a quick summary of the panel news!
IDW confirmed that the current "Robots in Disguise" title will be shortened to simply "The Transformers" clearly to avoid brand confusion with the upcoming cartoon series. Primacy is close to wrapping up, and Drift: Empire of Stone should launch subsequent to that. Upcoming stories in the main books will follow Prowl hunting Spike Witwicky on Earth, and flashback to Megatron's life in the distant past when he was a miner.
Combiner Wars is the next crossover event between "The Transformers" and the second Windblade miniseries. Art will be split between Livio Ramondelli on Transformers and Sarah Stone on Windblade. The story is said to concern the workings of Combiners, both mechanically and mentally. Mairghread Scott is noted as saying she enjoys writing for Menasor and Superion. It was also revealed Defensor and Devastator will appear in the crossover.
Finally, it was revealed that Optimus Prime would be appearing in Transformers vs GI Joe, more Beast Wars characters may appear in the main books, and some clarification on the functional relationship with IDW and Hasbro. Clarifying that apart from specific characters being incorporated, Hasbro leaves the execution largely in the hands of IDW.
