While photography was strictly forbidden, we're getting word that at a presentation from TakaraTomy that just wrapped up, the prototype for Masterpiece Cheetor was revealed. Many attendees were live tweeting information as the event took place, and common themes presented themselves. Hopefully if they're debuting a prototype piece, even with photos prohibited, it means we won't have long to wait for TakaraTomy to publicly release images themselves. Meanwhile, keep reading to hear what the attendees had to say!
Most of the comments made were fairly brief and to the point. One thing noted by several people was that the beast mode appeared to actually have whiskers. How that's being accomplished was not elaborated upon. Hopefully if it is as it sounds, the designers figured out a happy medium between durability for such necessarily thin pieces while still looking appropriate.
The beast mode was described generally as looking sleek. One account specifically used the original 1996 Deluxe mold as a point of comparison to describe what this one wasn't. Similarly the general opinion was that the robot mode was very accurate to the animation design - again, a contrasting comparison was made to Universe 2008 Cheetor.
No information we saw mentioned the transformation, and it's likely that this may not have been demonstrated at this early stage. Surely if the beast mode is slim and cat-like and the robot adheres well to the CG model, how the transformation happens is going to be a major point of interest for many people.
