Out of Nowhere
It all started with an image of the Sideways vs. Axer set published in a popular toy magazine in Japan just over a month ago. Then just last week, new shots of the set began to appear again in Japan. Today
AmericanDreamComics has posted a report with pictures (

Its Official
I contacted Hasbro right away and was able to get confirmation that the Sideways vs. Axer set is in-fact a Wal-Mart exclusive. The Mega sized set will retail for about $15.00. The set will also be released by Takara in Japan. It will sell for 2,500 yen and is slated to be released in late May. If you want to get the intimate details on this new set check out the thread running on
Allspark.com. People have posted tech specs, SKU numbers and maybe even some images by the time you read this.

What The?
What I find interesting is that fans are really interested in what has turned out to be just repaint set. And with figures that have no relevance to the show at that. Are RiD fans more ardent that I give them credit for? I mean really, unless these figures come out in very limited quantities, which I doubt, I cannot imagine them being much competition for the other RiD toys. I personally would choose a Midnight Express or Sky Byte over the new 2-Pack any day. How about you?
Before you go flying off to the local Wal-Mart looking for one of these. Call ahead and ask for the "Transformers Laser Cycles set" with SKU # 7693026559. Oh and while you're there, can you pick one up for me too?
