Flame Toys Posts Concept Art For IDW Rodimus, Optimus Primal, LioConvoy, Windblade, And Big Convoy

Flame Toys, makers of the Furai Model kits and high-end Kuro Kara Kuri figure line, have posted a flurry of new concept art for both lines to Twitter! First up is Furai Model Big Convoy and Optimus Primal as drawn by Studio Trigger alum Akira Amemiya. Fellow Trigger artist Masaru Sakamoto contributed the design for LioConvoy, and interestingly enough labeled the art with his US name of "Leo Prime!"

The Trigger personnel's Transformers fandom has been on display from as far back as Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, where you could see Autobot and Decepticon symbols turned into background robots. And of course more recently there was SSSS Gridman, which was a festival of Transformers references turned into human character designs.

Finishing off the Furai Model side is the latest revision of the Windblade model design by the artist known as Ban!. On the Kuro Kara Kuri side we've got concept art for "God Power Jet Armor" (Movie Jetfire, it seems, or a set of armor inspired by same) by Toshinao Miyauchi, whose name is not turning up in many Google searches. Japanese names are easy to mistranslate - Akira Amemiya's given name came up as "Tetsu" through Twitter Translation as RAC was writing this article - so this could be a mistranslation possibly.

Lastly, and next up for the Kuro Kara Kuri line is an IDW-inspired Rodimus designed by Hyogo Funabashi! Funabashi was also the designer behind Drift and Tarn, so should fit in very well with the existing figures.
