TakaraTomy has posted an update on their website giving some details about what they'll have to show at their exhibit space at Winter Wonderfest 2020, happening this weekend in Japan. The big headliner seems to be the first full reveal of Studio Series Devastator, a project that's been over a year in the making. A version of Devastator still using some test shot components was seen on the European convention circuit not too long ago, but we believe the debut Takara has planned will involve full color, final production samples of all the Constructicons, showing the true finished appearance of the combiner for the first time.
In more vague terms, they promise the latest news about Studio Series, Masterpiece, Earthrise, and Generations Selects. We don't expect that they'll have debuts for anything on the Generations side that Hasbro hasn't already officially revealed, so as not to take attention away from Toy Fair later this month in New York, but that still leaves some ground that TakaraTomy can cover. In particular, with the Seacons fully underway now, this might be the time for them to show off the Super Megatron retool of Titans Return Galvatron, teased as a silhouette at the same time as Turtler last year. And of course we're still waiting for the Armada Optimus whose prototype form was displayed alongside Star Convoy at last winter's Wonderfest...
There's also going to be some kind of followup campaign involving Twitter after Wonderfest. It seems like there might be a chance to win or otherwise receive a Transformers-themed clear file with a design to be revealed during Wonderfest. That'll probably be tricky for anyone outside Japan to participate in, unfortunately.
We'll be here this weekend collecting as much news from Wonderfest as we can, so keep checking back for all the latest!
