Many don't know that I have one of the largest Optimus Prime collections in the World with 1000s of toys and ephemera items spanning from Takara's Diaclone up to the latest Hasbro Earthrise releases. I have been wanting to show this stuff for years. So here goes, my first attempt at sharing the plethora of Prime goodies I have collected over the decades.
While we're in the Animated neighborhood, I felt compelled to get a shot of the super-premium editions Takara TOMY created for the Transformers Animated toys released in Japan. From a time when Hasbro and Takara's releases could differ greatly in coloring and editions.
Today, we begin with the standard Japan TA-01 Optimus Prime Voyager (2010) figure that was sold in Japan with a slick metallic finish, joined by three other Japan-only releases. Bottom left, the TA-38 Wingblade Optimus Prime (2010) in Metallic finish and "Crystal" clear plastic. Sadly, Hasbro showed a Wingblade Optimus Prime at SDCC 2009, but it was never brought to market. Top left, is the TA-01 Elite Guard (2011) Million Publishing mail-order exclusive, and Top-Right, is the TA-01 Optimus Prime Black Version (2010) Transformers Museum exclusive release.
I have the Wingblade Optimus still sealed in one of my totes. He looks so good in the box I just don't have the heart to free him.
