With it being Mother's day, it only seems fitting to take a shot of the original toy that gave birth, figuratively speaking, to one of the most iconic Transformers of all time, the Generation 1 Optimus Prime. There is a long evolution behind the toys that would become Transformers. Ironically, what was Takara's response to the then-popular Mech (human-powered) robots was the Diaclone Car Robots series in 1982. Those molds would eventually be licensed, sans the Human drivers, and released in the Transformers 1984 cartoon series. Literally animating the look and functions of the Battle Convoy toy as so many kids now it today. See the original toy in a nice crisp repro-box along with the original Generation 1 release. Please be nice to your Mother today.
