The Transformers Beast Machines followed Beast Wars with more great storytelling. For better and worse, the new toys were something else entirely. The Maximal characters had a new more organic design. With a return to Cybertron, the robots and vehicles are back and were not what they seemed. Sadly, this was one of the weakest lines for Optimus Primal toys with several strange designs frought with distribution problems.
Today's Daily goes Primal with a look at the most humble and arguably attractive of the official released Beast Machines Optimus Primal toys. Not because the McDonald Happy Meal premium (shown right) was so good, more because the mainline toys didn't resemble the TV show character as well as they could have. The deluxe Heroic Maximal Optimus Primal figure (shown leff) hardly looked like the TV show character at all. Fortunately, the Blast Punch and Air Attach Optimus Primal figures were progressively better.
