What could be more fitting to feature on the Daily Prime than our first good look at the Transformers Rise of the Beasts movie's G1 Optimus Prime rolling out? Thanks to Humberto Gonzalez of the Montreal Car Spotting group we have a nice 23-second video showing the Autobot Leader Freightliner T880 on set.
We can see right away that really big silver stripe across the cab and the windows are looking a lot like the MPM-12 Optimus Prime. That huge bumper appears to be production rigging or something to protect the front as we saw covered up in the transport images. Watch the clip now below along with a bonus clip of the 1977 Camaro Bumblebee we saw recently with a 280ZX in the view.

It also gives me Transformers Prime vibes and since that's the cartoon I grew up with (I think Transformers Animated slipped past me) and my favorite, that's an instant plus for me!
I like the designs of Transformers prime. I think it was an excellent merger between the Michael Bay designs and Transformers animated. I'm not a huge fan of overly technical designs. It's almost like they're naked with car parts on top of their body. I don't like that because it makes me feel like in a fight, they're completely fragile and exposed.

I don't agree with this. This looks like the G1 toy combined with the first Michael Bay Prime. I would have to get used to this like I did at the Bay movies version.

Hey I mean Bay brought us the first three movies and did what he had to do but...I look forward to seeing what this new guy will bring to the table. Guess I need to actually watch Bumblebee first though?
I'm glad, I'll leave room in my imagination for this one being a really killer film. First Bay movie wasn't too "true" to the original content/ characters, obviously, but struck a great chord with me and my friends and family for being very funny and having some great action scenes. Haven't seen Bumblebee but it seems to have won back over the audience that saw the first one, so I hope they continue doing well with these. The live action films add something to Transformers that the other media doesn't, even if the "true" fans don't like it (no disrespect to the "true" fans, of course).
