Daily Prime - Transformers (2007) Protoform Optimus Prime

Some of the first figures to be released for the initial Transformers Hollywood movie production in 2007 were the Protoform figures for Optimus Prime (left) and Starscream. These somewhat formless entities could travel through space and they are some of the first to land on Earth in the 2007 film.

Until the movie debuted, These toys were somewhat puzzling to fans and met with both disdain for their alien forms and adoration for the great articulation. Moreover, people were upset they didn't reflect the character's original colors. Some were custom painted to great effect (right), and an official G1 colors release was finally made by Takara for the 2017 Transformers Age of Extinction Movie Advanced Series AD09 Optimus Prime figure (center).
