The Daily Prime has been laying bricks, 1,508 of them to be exact, in the construction of the soon-to-be released LEGO Transformers Optimus Prime 10302. Thanks to Hasbro who sent me this Creator Set to share with you, today we are looking at the fully built robot mode.
This is quite an epic set that took me about 10 hours to build (watch 13 min speed build). Overall, this may not be a masterpiece Transformers figure, but it feels like a Masterpiece Lego set. What clearly had a lot of thought put into it, turns out to be a huge figure at 35 cm / 13.7 tall. Sure, it is a bit fragile, but surprisingly solid. LEGO Optimus poses easily with the help of 19 points of articulation and tightly ratcheted joints, without loosing balance or falling over.
As we can see, the LEGO Transformers 10302 Optimus Prime shown right has captured the look and feel of his namesake quite well. Shown here with the 2003 Takara Masterpiece MP-1 Convoy (left) and the 2018 Hasbro Transformers Generation 1 Optimus Prime Walmart reissue (center) for reference. Stay tuned for more looks at LEGO Optimus Prime's truck mode and more blocky sides of Optimus Prime in future features.
