Legacy Dinobots Slug and Sludge Core Class Official In-Hand Images - Weaponized!

Hasbro's Evan Brooks @naveskoorb shares his follow-up to the Legacy Dinobots Slug and Sludge Core Class that were revealed at Hasbro Pulse Con 2022. These little guys can combine and interact with other 5mm compatibile figues suchs as the Weaponizers. Even shares his notes and details, and a hint at a potential Dinoking from the Core Class Dinbobots combiner below followed by images.

Hi transformer fans!

I hope you enjoyed our Pulse Con show and saw some things you can wait to get on your shelves. (Tarn and Lio Prime, right!?)

I wanted to show off the core class dinobots that we will be releasing throughout 2023.

I wanted to try and make a core class combiner since it's been several years since we last did and thats a feature that I've always loved. I think that was the legends scale Abominus for Beast hunters!? Or the retooled version we did for Infernocus...feel free to correct me in the comments. Many robots merging to make a bigger robot is just the best and we have so many in our history that need updates. I guess this was something of an experiment?

When Shu san and I started to work on this, we also were having conversations with Hasui san on how best to implement it. We had talked about one of the bots being DLX class to be the main body while all the limbs are Core. Perhaps this is something we'll look at doing in the future for other combiners at this scale if you all enjoy these bots. Ultimately, we went with 6 core class bots and perhaps we'll get some sort of future purposes out of these molds.

Having 2 bots form the chest also gives it some nice dimension.

But anyway, here we have Slug and Sludge who form the torso of Volcanicus! They combine using 5mm ports so you can use all our other weaponizers, fossilizers, modulators and even the new Junkions to build with them!

From the pictures you'll notice that we had to fuse their arms, removing their elbows for structural support for the combined mode but a few of the other dinobots will have elbows.

Obviously Sludge as well has a bit of Combiner kibble for his thighs but remember: "Thick bots do squats!" And he's gonna deadlift this Gestalt with those thunderous thighs.

Thanks again for tuning in and we'll try to post more to answer any questions you may have.

Thanks and I hope you enjoy,
-Evan

I prefer large figures.

I absolutely love the Core class.   I'm not sure what people expect for 11 dollars, but I think they are amazing and fun.

I 100% agree. I am always taken a bit by surprise by the amount of hate that spews from some of the fans. It's like they have no ability to pick and choose if they actually want to spend the money on something or not.

I have really been loving the little dinobots despite their flaws.

And yes! I have my Grimstone  on display and can't wait to have 2 dinobot combiners.

I was reading some of the comments after the Rise of the Beast toy reveals and was taken aback. I could not believe the amount of hate I was seeing. It's not like it was the Studio Series stuff either though, it's literally the stuff for the kids specifically and not also for the collectors. They're not even that bad though. I'm getting all those Weaponizers and the Weaponizers that come with the larger figures, I'll be getting them too. I'll also be getting the Spark Armor style figures. It's nice that they learned from the Cyberverse releases and use the robot's arms as the armored forms arms instead of trying to make unarticulated arms from the armor piece but it's just a shame that the base figures are now worse overall than either size Spark Armor base figure from Cyberverse. But the price reflects this. More complicated armors with less complicated base figures for $20 which was right in between the prices for the two sizes from Cyberverse. The smaller, core class looking figure look pretty good too even if they lack some articulation. That Rhinox in particular looks real good.

Back to the Weaponizers though, is it just me or do they remind anyone else of better designed Arms Microns from Takara's Prime line?

So Volcanicus and Dinoking will be around the sizes of TLK Infernocus and Power Core Combiners Grimstone. I actually like that very much. Being about the same size as Grimstone is really cool. Now I have to dig my Grimstone back out but luckily I still have time before we finish Volcanicus.

I really do hope that Hasbro does release Dinoking and not listen to some of the hate these figures are getting. It's not too bad but it's there.
