Leave it to DNA Design to take things up a notch, or 20 with another upgrade kit for the Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts series. The DK-46 101 Scourge DNA Design Upgrade Kit fixes a lot of things most fans didn't consider on this already fantastic leader class figure. Most notable is the new maskless head, clear sword weapon, right hand, spinning claw hand, and much more that are better described in the images below. Look for this pack to ship in December 2023.
I don't actually hate this kit. This is one of the better kits they've done in the past few years. They actually addressed some of the major issues with this figure instead of just putting in a bunch of single things from that one time so you can recreate that one scene that nobody ever uses. I mean there's still one of those pieces in here but it's just a small thing that looks like it can be fairly well hidden in the "palm" of that one hand and not the entire kit like the Beast Wars or the SS86/BB multi-kits.
The legs on all the Terrorcons have been so oddly thin. It's not Hasbro's normal design style but they all have it. LIke they're out of 00 Gundam or something. Just weird thin and flat legs. But this kit seems to "fix" the "issue" with thigh upgrades and shinguards. The arms look really good too. They even made the forearms nice a bulky as well. The brighter colors contrast the darker shades of the base figure quite nicely. I also like where the new head sits. The "Lockdown" look just wasn't good for this mold. The detachable sword is cool as well.
I'll probably get this kit as I like Scourge as it is but this changes a few things just enough to be worth it. Assuming it's not some kind of stupid price. They've been all over the place with their prices lately. And no, I don't mean those new old stock that's been found for the old titan class figures.
Yes they are new old stock and not reissues. I asked them myself. They told me that those kits were found unsold in a factory and that they have nothing to do with them or their pricing. But I'm just some random person on the internet, who knows if what I'm saying is true or not. It's just what they told me on their Facebook page when I asked about it. Make of it what you will. It's just that if they were actual reissue then they'd advertise it
