Cat Alt-Mode Week Day 5 is closing out the week with the most powerful feline alt mode of all a look at with the 2005 Cybertron Galaxy Force Optimus Prime Savage Claw Mode!. Of course, I had to follow the Leobeaker feature with a look at the Savage Claw Mode combination featured in the original TV series.
What was originally designed to have a truck element homage to Overhaul, was left off in the final design. Likewise, we can see they were not able to work in a fully articulated hand with fingers like we see in the cartoon and original design. Shown below is an original concept design sheet showing the various design features, and the prototypes with the truck parts visible on the chest.
In case you are wondering, the Optimus Prime figure could accommodate two Savage Claws, IF that was desired. Unfortunately, the Cybertron Optimus Prime combination is only possible for the Savage Claw Mode OR the Sonic Wing Mode, because the Wing Saber figure doesn't allow for clearance of the folded back arm(s). Not that this isn't A LOT of toy already. After handling the Nova Prime figure recently, its a reminder of how a figure this size is challenged by its own weight, yet still quite impressive.
