Just out are a few of the Transformers Issue No #5 covers from Image Comics. There have been so many, fans are starting to glaze over from the artistic onslaught. However, one of the Issue #5 covers is more than meets the eye with a Megatron teaser.

That unmistakable gun is shown with a reflection of Optimus Prime finding it. This is some serious foreshadowing that we won't learn about till January 2024 when these comics hit the stands. Today Skybound, in collaboration with leading toy and game company Hasbro, debuted an impressive lineup of variant covers for Daniel Warren Johnson’s TRANSFORMERS #5. This issue of the mega hit TRANSFORMERS series arrives in comic book stores on February 14, 2024.

This past Summer, Skybound announced the roster of Decepticons headlining the first story arc would include Starscream, Rumble, Skywarp, Laserbeak, and Soundwave, prompting many fans to question #WhereIsMegatron? TRANSFORMERS #5 continues the all-new era for the iconic TRANSFORMERS franchise from Daniel Warren Johnson (Extremity, Do a Powerbomb, DC’s Wonder Woman: Dead Earth) and colorist Mike Spicer (Stillwater, Murder Falcon), and in it, Starscream revives one of the most powerful Decepticons to eliminate the Autobots once and for all.

In addition to the stunning main cover by Daniel Warren Johnson and Mike Spicer depicting the arm of the franchise’s most iconic antagonist, the stacked list of variant covers for TRANSFORMERS #5 includes an open to order cover by James Stokoe (Wonton Soup), a 1:10 incentive variant that continues the connecting cover series by Orlando Arocena (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), a 1:25 incentive variant by Natacha Bustos (Spider-Woman), and a very special 1:50 incentive spoiler variant featuring a fan favorite character like you’ve never seen them before by Karl Kerschl (Adventures of Superman).

The Energon Universe officially began in June 2023 with the surprise first appearance of iconic TRANSFORMERS character Jetfire in Void Rivals #1, introducing the historic new collaboration between Hasbro and Skybound, with TRANSFORMERS and G.I. JOE comics finding a new home with the publisher. The Energon Universe recently expanded with TRANSFORMERS, kicking off a brand-new era for the iconic franchise, and will further expand in December with Duke #1, a limited series from Joshua Williamson (DC’s Superman, Dark Ride), Tom Reilly (The Thing) and Jordie Bellaire (W0rldtr33). This will be followed by the launch of Cobra Commander #1 in January 2024, from Joshua Williamson, Andrea Milana (Impact Winter: Rook) and Annalisa Leoni (Oblivion Song). Fans should expect can’t-miss moments from every issue of the Energon Universe, as secrets are unveiled along the path to answering the BIG questions, including #WhereIsMegatron.

TRANSFORMERS #5 (Lunar Codes Below | $3.99) will be available at comic book shops and digital platforms including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, comiXology, and Google Play on Wednesday, February 14, 2024.
